Under the command of the papal legate, Arnaud Amalric, they started to besiege the city, calling on the Catholics within to come out, and demanding that the Cathars surrender. Neither group did as commanded. The city fell the following day when an abortive sortie was pursued back through the open gates. The entire population was slaughtered and the city burned to the ground. It was reported that Amalric, when asked how to distinguish Cathars from Catholics, responded, “Kill them all! Social justice is Communism rebranded. It is also liberal political doctrine invested with religious levels of devotion. They’re love, so everyone else can be silenced as hate speech. They alone are smart, educated, kind, so you can silence others as stupid crazy and poor quality content.
There are too many conservatives who’ve fallen for liberals’ deliberate rebranding, that liberal = love, so the “god is love” argument means you have to do whatever liberal bullies are demanding today.
What is love that makes it a good thing? A person can love evil as much as they can love good. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked”. Godless humans are very good at redefining terms to mean exactly the opposite of what they were intended. The devil is the father of lies, and his children speak the language he has given them.
And misplaced compassion enables evil, while love can be used to enable bad behavior. The classic case is an enabler who gives a drunk a drink because the person wheedles for it, accuses the enabler of being mean and cruel for not “helping”. Liberals have turned this into a political strategy.
