Still like the H&R 999.
Hi Standard 9 shot .22 revolver with a 1-1/2 barrel. Cost me $100. I can put all nine into a paper plate at 15 feet inside of 5 seconds. Not bad for a piece of crap gun I picked up just for the hell of it.
Its great for new shooters. Minimal recoil, cheap to shoot, and just plain fun.

I have an older Colt Officer’s Model Match, and it is a true pleasure to shoot. You can hit just about anything...except a dragonfly. They are surprisingly quick!
The Baretta .22 was for decades used by Mossad agents.
I love my Ruger LCR.
My first pistol was a Hi-Standard 9. I shot 1,000’s of rounds through it. Taught me trigger control and how to reflex shoot.
I have the Ruger LCR in .22 WMG, horrible gun. When you fire it the hammer indentations keep the cylinder from opening up afterwords, you literally have to strike it repeatedly to get it to open to eject the shells, and it will also cause it to not rotate the cylinder when you fire it as well unless you pull the trigger with all your strength.
I bought it for my daughter as her first gun when she was going to college, living off campus she got her CCW permit and carried it to work with her, she worked downtown Indy at a hospital all hours of the day and night. After seeing that it was a POS I bought her a .38 S&W hammerless and put her Ruger back in the box where it’s been ever since. I was highly disappointed in Ruger for that one.
A real Shooter doesnt Slap a trigger.
Beretta model 71 with threaded barrel. J&G sales was importing some a few years back with fake permanently attached suppresor cans to meet import regulations. Might be some left out there on the secondary market.

I had a high school teacher that said he bought his daughter (nursing school, late nites, etc.) a .44 magnum.
“I figured she wouldn’t have it in her to shoot the guy. So I figured if she just pulled that out of her handbag the guy would run off!”
Colt Diamondback.
The H&R I inherited from my Father’s Mother is a nine shot with five and three quarter inch barrel, double action, with a target hair trigger. Shoot the eyes out of a squirrel at thirty feet. But the Heritage single action revolvers come in nine shot and can sport an additional 22 magnum cylinder with nine in it. Of the ones I have only one is a 6.5 inch barrel, the others are Rough Riders in 4.5 inch barrel, a pair in six with 22 magnum cylinders too, and one in nine shot. Great little revolvers! A 22 magnum in nine shots is a fair home defense weapon and you can train with it to get accurate and fast. At under two humdred you can stash them all over the house!
Have You Contacted Ruger And informed them of the problems You describe ?
Ill bet Youll find they will fix or replace it at no charge.
Contact them and let Me know the results please.
People might poo-poo on 22 LR but I wouldn’t want 9 rounds in my COM.
Ever.
My plinker is a Ruger Single Six. Bought it in the 1980s.
Thats why I bought it. It now lives in my Go Bag along with 100 rounds of HP. Ive also got a Ruger Take Down in each car so for a Bug Back Home Kit theyll do.
Best,
L
I have a Ruger MKIII and a High Standard HD Military (looks like a Colt Woodsman) from WWII. I was told Gary Powers carried the same model.
Trump says MAGA! More Americans Getting Arms.
