U.S. Army gets new Submachine Gun - APC9K
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 6/7/2019 | S Coffman

Submachine guns such as the M3 grease gun and the Thompson served our military troops well in World War II and Korea. Fast forward M4 carbines have been the main service weapons.
Recently, the U.S. Army have decided to contract the Swiss defense contractor (Brugger and Thomet) $2.5 million dollars for the new APC9K submachine gun. There are 350 guns in the books as purchased with options to another thousand.

The U.S. Army have been looking for something to replace the Heckler & Koch 9mm MP5. Decisions was based on arming certain personnel that would needed something more small and maneuverable but with greater lethality than a pistol while operating in tight conditions than a rifle or carbine.
Other big manufactures such as Beretta, Colt, Heckler & Koch, and SIG Sauer have competed for this contract, until Brugger and Thomet won the contract. Read the rest of U.S. Army gets APC9K.

The author of this article is a butcher of the English language as is the editor of the magazine for letting this elementary school level piece see the light of day. Beyond those flaws the article stated a well know truth. Someone’s brother-in-law must have wanted a new boat. Therefore, a need for a new submachine gun was found at the Pentagon.

seems to be a very simple design. built in an open bolt form it looks like you could almost make this at home out of spare parts.

For that matter maybe we could reintroduce the belt fed Browning air cooled chambered in 7.62 NATO. One per squad like back in the day. Bad guys who think they’re safe outside of 400 yards would be in for a bit if a shock. Not to mention that a competent shooter could tear down walls with it.

Our guys are getting picked off by 7th century goat herders shooting Mosin Nagants and Enfields because the M4, as good as it it, simply can’t reach them.

That’s unacceptable. Yea, the grunts would bitch about humping it. Right up until they’re pinned down by shooters who are out of range. A swarm of 150 grain pills heading their way at 2,700 FPS would wreck their entire day.

I found out about the M-14 on full auto at Camp Pendelton when the Navy sent me to the Marines for training before enjoying the all expenses paid vacation to Southeast Asia. I pulled the trigger. My teeth chattered from the recoil and the Marines laughed. They had a good time.

An amazingly simple SMG, recoil buffer is a bit of oiled leather.

The Sterling was a Cadillac.

Even the floor plate on the mags, it had twin rollers, a Cadillac.
