Tardigrades may fill the seats, but they don't pay the bills.

“I cant take seeing yet another year of the morbidly obese 65 year old man crammed into his jersey to support a group of millionaires who despise him.”
So much truth in your comment, sadly.
As an aside, I was just watching the NBA finals game 2, and turned it off after hearing the announcers drool over Obama (”great man”) who was at the game.

An escalation in NFL player militancy and an increase in their salary demands cannot easily be reconciled with the declining financial prospects for the NFL and the waning popularity of both TV and football. The money and fans are slowly ebbing away. Meanwhile, the risk of devastating long term brain injuries in football is leading parents and schools to steer kids away from the sport.
My guess is that the NFL is quietly contemplating the potential for a CGI football league modeled on the NFL's history of storied players and teams. One day, the NFL may no longer have an active player roster but will still be an active if smaller computer simulation business that pays out small residual checks to the heirs of its former players.

Explains why the NFL is so anxious to get in on the Sports Gambling Racket, something that was unheard of just a few years ago. They wanted nothing to do with it, now they are desperate to cash in.
