The U.S. Armys newest tank in the summer of 2019 should enter service with the first large unit to use the type.
The Army in late 2017 accepted the very first M-1A2C Abrams tanks. Nearly two years later the service has enough of the new vehicles to equip an entire brigade.
Were in the throes of getting that together, Hank Kennedy, a manager at General Dynamics tank plant in Lima Ohio, told Lima News.

For the price we should buy several thousand anti-tank rockets (and we’d still save money).
If anti-tank rockets were that good the Germans would have won the war.
We have thousands of anti-tank rockets already. Anti-tanks rockets alone don’t give you battlefield superiority.
Thank God that military geniuses\s like you are not making acquisition decisions.
+1
General Patton would be awestruck if he could see one of these tanks.
Reminds me of a German Lt captured by a US unit and sent to a POW camp.
pon arrival he was asked his unit, and he responded as a Panzerfaust Team Leader with the mission to destroy the US tanks. The American officer interviewing him scoffed at his ability exclaiming, if was so good at his duties, why was he there.
The Lt responded, the US sent a tank, he fired his Panzerfaust and killed the tank. The US sent another tank. He fired another Panzerfaust and killed the tank. Another US tank appeared, he shot another Panzerfaust and killed that tank. He said he ran out of Panzerfausts before the US ran out of tanks.
If Eisenhower had had the foresight to have taken all doctors under Pattons command aside and ordered that any and all shock victims brought to their hospitals must be immediately put in body casts - and sedated whenever Patton was around - it would have shortened the war by six months and saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
Abrams is still one awesome piece of machinery.

It sure is and it still has an serious upside to it.
I wouldn’t want one on my case.
Played NG for a little while in mid 90s and was a driver on an A1 model.
If it doesn't have a long-range deuterium-initiated fusion pulse it isn't a Bolo.
For sure.
Good story and similar stories were repeated all over Europe. Attrition was an important part of winning the war.
Patton straightened himself out after the slapping incidents. He was a much better combat commander afterward.
Bradley said the slapping incidents did much to help win the war because Patton got himself together and knew not to repeat anything like that.
Thin screen tv screen at the back of the turret connected to thermal camera on back.
Clear visors projecting camera image from whichever direction you look including up.
Hardware mounted on tank to mount Stinger missiles.
Faster system to break and replace track.
Hyper velocity gun to increase main gun load and decrease explosions in tank.
New propulsion.
Diesel or electric. Something with better mileage.
There are some cars where they can pull out the battery pack and install a new battery pack very quickly.
Or, drive over recharger. Dont have to get out of Tank.
