Japanese sumo fans say they're happy President Donald Trump took the opportunity during his visit to Tokyo to watch the national sport in person even if his attendance caused some changes to the usual arrangement for fans.
Trump presented a special trophy to the winner of a tournament after Sunday's match.
Shinichiro Idehara, a 54-year-old government employee, bought a ticket after learning Trump would be going.

He was cheered LOUDLY during the presentation.
Not sure why, but Sumo can be addictive to watch. All the traditional ceremony leading up, the stretching, the throwing salt to purify the circle, the down and back up as the “referee” steps in with his fan, and then two huge bulls with amazing balance and power (they’re not all fat) hit like a pair of rams.

Perhaps he went to the sumo match to remind himself he needs to throw Jerry Nadler around the rink a few times (anybody remember any pics of Nadler from a few years back? - just the thought of that slug in a sumo loincloth is enough to induce a national epidemic of nausea).

I watched the final hour on TV here in Japan because President Trump attended . It had been many years since I last watched sumo . Exc. PR move by Trump . Melania wowed the crowd bigtime !
