The Memo: Trump second-term agenda begins to emerge
The Hill ^ | May 20, 2019 | Niall Stanage

The contours of a second-term agenda for President Trump are coming into view, 18 months before the 2020 election.

Immigration and the economy will be at its heart, just as they were during his 2016 run. But issues of trade and deregulation will be there, too — as will a nominal proposal to replace ObamaCare with some as-yet-unspecified legislation.

It’s a very early stage at which to begin laying out a second-term platform. But supporters of the president argue the haste is justified. The Democratic nomination process, featuring a huge field of contenders, is already consuming a lot of media oxygen.

“You have to air these things now,” said Brad Blakeman, a senior staffer in former President George W. Bush’s White House and a strong Trump backer. “Democrats are taking up all this space because you have so many of them. We have to offer all our plans earlier, because the Democrats are otherwise going to be given free rein.”

It better include major increases in enforcement and NO amnesty.

If Flimsey Grahamnesty is re-elected, he’s going to be saying the voters want amnesty.

Graham’s been talking tougher since McCain died. Why, I don’t know.

Maybe it’s just pre-election BS, as it has been in the past. Maybe, as BB King used to sing, “The thrill is gone,” and he’s freed from McCain’s spell (or blackmail threats).

It’s the McCain two-step.
He learned from the master.

The ‘rats really have but two issues:

1. incremental steps to gun grabbing

If the GOP Congress would have done their fricking job, Trump wouldn’t need a 2nd term.

2020

He knows he can’t run against President Trump, so he’s playing like he is on our side.
As soon as he is re-elected, he’ll be pushing amnesty again.

Son-in-law Jared, not Linda Graham is the amnesty pusher. Jared also favors the path to citizenship for the damn dreamers, which was a major disagreement he had with Steve Bannon.

I don't know what insider info LS has, but immediately after McCain died, Lindsey Graham was free to become friends with President Trump.

With McCain out of the way, Lindsey Graham has toughened his positions on immigration and has taken President Trump's side in the Russian hoax, but he's still a war hawk, IMHO.

Flimsey Grahamnesty has supported and voted for EVERY amnesty bill before him since 2006.

Cheap Labor Express stooges do not change their stripes, they just try to hide them at re-election time.

While I don’t trust Lindsey Granite, he has improved 1000% since McTurd croaked.

I am cautious to constantly blame Jared. First, regardless of what some people say, there is an element of anti-semitism in this. Second, while he is more open-border than someone like Miller, he’s very smart and knows immigration must be tightly controlled.

I think what Jared is trying to do is walk a very fine line between admitting the H1-B people in lower numbers to appease the tech guys while keeping a lid on everything else.

Meanwhile, Granite has been worth his weight in judges.
