Gas is $3.20 a gallon in Oregon.

It's about the same here in the Treasure Valley (Idaho). My question is, why has it gone up about a dollar a gallon since about March? That's a huge increase in a short time. If this keeps up, we'll be at $6 by Christmas.

How long are they going to keep trotting out that lame “summer blend” excuse? Then in the fall it’s “winter blend.” Since this happens every year, why does it take two months to switch blends every time?

Not just yes, but HELL YES!(there was a time when I could have answered with 'is the Pope Catholic', now I'm not even sure if bears shit in the woods) And they have been for decades, kind of hard to believe the state would actually ever investigate honestly when you realize the higher the price the higher the taxes.

California charges sales tax on gas, which most states do.not. that’s on top.of the ongoing federal and state gas taxes. “””

It is totally illegal to charge taxes on taxes.

California has been doing this for YEARS.

Point being, there are documentable reasons why California has such high gas prices.

Yeah, it's called communists Democrats are running the State.

Actually CA no longer has the distinction of highest gas taxes in the Nation.... The lovely R’s in PA took that title away a year or two ago now.

It does not take two months to switch between blends. It happens in hours.

The difficult and time consuming part is getting rid of all the stored blend, however that doesn’t take months. Most refineries, terminals, ppl, etc di not have that long/much capicity.

Then why is the price still 50 cents a gallon higher than it was before they had to “switch blends?” Is ‘t the switch completed by now?

Yes, In most places of the country the switch had already been made.
The rest of your question, It’s a complicated situation.

Winter blends are cheaper, in that the ingredients that go into making it are cheaper, more plentiful “cuts”, however these cuts are low temperature distillates, which means they will evaporate and cannot be used in warmer temps. Then there are the summer vs. Winter emissions requirements. Also people drive less in the winter so there is less demand. All of those factors go into some of the trains behind the price climb.

Also remember in many places of the country half or more of the purchase price is the taxes on a gallon, so the price pet gallon should have the taxes removed for a more accurate comparison.

Duh, ya Think. Here the screwed up state pushed electric cars, small clown cars, bicycle riding, electric trains and yet has the most expensive gasoline. Everything is expensive in California.

Got to pay for all of those pensions no one voted on.
