The Arc of History Bends Towards Dumb

If I had to choose a “dumbest” Democrat running for president today I guess I’d confer that distinction on Kirsten Gillibrand.

After all, she’s been groomed by the best.

But what has she done to claim that distinction? Well, this:

“If you are a person of the Christian faith, one of the tenets of our faith is free will. One of the tenets of our democracy is that we have a separation of church and state, and under no circumstances are we supposed to be imposing our faith on other people. And I think this is an example of that effort.”

Such is the nature of “logical” thought today. I don’t know if Kirsten actually believes what she argued - especially since she is a politician which means pandering is her primary skill set -  but I doubt she can point to the bible passage that says it’s a tenet of Christianity to kill unborn children. Anymore than she or anyone else can point to the passage in the U.S. Constitution that purportedly confers the same “right.” You only find such things in the New Postmodern Bible and the Living Constitution.

And then there’s Kirsten’s solution to the immigration crisis:

Under Gillibrand’s open border plan, all border crossers and illegal aliens claiming asylum would be allowed to enter the country, freely, with the hope that they arrive in court for their hearing.

“I wouldn’t keep them in detention at all,” Gillibrand continued. “I wouldn’t … as president of the United States, I wouldn’t use the detention system at all … if someone is seeking asylum, I would assign them a lawyer.”

“They don’t need to be incarcerated,” Gillibrand said. “If they’re given a lawyer and given a process, they will follow it.

Right…I’m sure all the M-13 members will show up, because they have so much respect for our laws. And those Middle Eastern ISIS members, they’ll be there for sure. As will the child sex traffickers.

For sure, give me a President like Kirsten who has innovative new solutions for all those old sticky wickets.

Although she might be better off staying away from sticky wickets altogether until she learns how to handle them better.

Honestly, I’m so glad we evened the playing field, it makes the game so much fairer.

“dumbest” Democrat running for president today

That seems like the sort of question that could spur virtually endless debate without ever reaching a firm conclusion. There’s a lot of dumb to choose from. I mean, she is dumb, but is she really dumber than Joe Biden? Bill de Blasio is really dumb, too. Klobchar is an idiot. There’s a lot of room for debate. Bernie has dumb ideas, but he’s not really dumb. Same goes for the Sodomite mayor guy. Warren is pretty dumb, but she doesn’t even stand out in this crowd.

Given the current overall state of the U.S., supporting any Democrat over PDJT is arguably the dumbest idea one can come up with.

I disagree with the word, “bends”. I’d say, “takes a sharp left turn”

To me there's really no debate at all. There's a difference between stupidity and someone that I just disagree with - I don't think Sanders and Warren are stupid, just deluded and nutty. I'll equate "dumb" with "lack of substance" for my $0.02

Even among this rather pitiful bunch, "Beto" O'Rourke really stands out for his complete lack of any accomplishments in or out of politics and the absence of anything other than "look at me" as a policy platform. In all my years watching politics, I don't recall seeing anyone so devoid of substance.

I’m guessing you get a certain amount of money and fame from running for president, would that be fair to say?

Inevitably, every primary has candidates who know that their chances of being the party nominee are zero. So for them it's all just a big publicity stunt - the increase in name recognition will help them if and when they decide to run for some more realistic office like a House or Senate seat.

I think you make a strong case for Beto. I cringe when I see him. He makes Obama seem substantial in comparison.

Speaking of Dumb ... this from Quora...

My first week in basic training and we were broken down into platoons for the “what are your names and why did you join the Army?”

Kid steps up and says he joined because he was drafted. He got his “draft notice” in the mail. Mind you this was April 2001. Drill Sergeant does a double take and says “you mean your selective service registration?”

They took him back into the 1SG’s office and he disappeared. I asked a DS about it later and turns out he got his selective service registration in the mail and his out of touch parents sent him down to the recruiter who told him he was drafted.

I know I shouldn't be laughing at that but it's funny as hell.
