One of Barack Obama's top cabinet secretaries has stunned and infuriated Washington Democrats by derailing their "Trump is Putin's Puppet" narrative in a high-profile interview with CBS News.
Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates was asked what reporter Margaret Brennan thought was a softball question aimed to garner a Trump-bashing reply from Gates.
She got exactly the opposite.
“It’s a favorite talking point for the Trump administration to say that they’ve been the toughest on Russia of any administration,” Margaret Brennan pointed out to Gates.
Gated replied, “And in some respects, that’s true. … I think in terms of the magnitude of the sanctions that have been put on Russia, they are more significant than have been imposed in the past.”
OUCH! Watch...
To say Brennan was displeased by his answer is a big understatement. she literally appeared disgusted by his reply, and viewers noticed.

Margaret Brennan - any relation to John?
Trump has said nice things about the leaders of the nation’s nuclear-armed adversaries while sticking the shiv in. That’s how he rolls. Whereas Obama’s strategy was to talk tough while doing nothing to address their transgressions. On Russia, Trump has supplied lethal aid to Ukraine, pulled out of nuclear arms treaties with Russia, increased defense expenditures targeted at the Russians (including nuclear weapons upgrades) *and* increased sanctions on Russia, none of which Obama would do, despite all of his tough talk. With people like Obama, words are a substitute for deeds. With Trump, words are a salve for the knife he is slipping between their ribs.
I thought Brennan was going to come out of her chair at Gates’ answer!
Fake narrative busted by the interview. One would hope the ‘Progressives’ would start debating about Real Issues.
Just keep repeating that BHO vid of “Tell Vlad when I’m reelected...” anytime Russia comes up in conversation.
Couldn’t find any mention of them being related.
Her husband, Yado Yakub, is part Irish, part Syrian.
Prolly closer to “Walter” Brennan.
