Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez complained Sunday that GOP fact-checkers were taking her “dry humor” literally.
“This is a technique of the GOP, to take dry humor + sarcasm literally and ‘fact check’ it,” she tweeted. “Like the ‘world ending in 12 years’ thing, you’d have to have the social intelligence of a sea sponge to think it’s literal. But the GOP is basically Dwight from ‘The Office’ so who knows.”

And when Ocasio-Cortez first made the claim, she certainly appeared to be playing up the absurdity of the statement for effect.

If it was meant as a joke why did she want trillions of dollars in order to fund her Green Deal? Why so upset that it was put up for a vote? If it was all a joke why get so incensed? She’s an idiot.

Here’s the thing. I did think some people went over the top because it was pretty clear she didn’t actually mean the world literally ends in 12 years, but that she meant that’s the point where nothing we do will save us from the climate hoax she keeps pushing.
But that is not “dry humor.” She always clearly meant that 12 years is the point where we’re doomed, even if the world doesn’t literally end at that point.
If she doesn’t think the 12 year point is critical then the Green New Deal has absolutely no point.

Man, I was just recently been corrected that she doesn’t have an economics degree, the degree she got from BU was in International Relations. And courses in economics was part of the requirement.
