I wouldn't be surprised that a derivative of the 737 MAX (but with a different wing) becomes the next-generation version of the P-8 Poseidon ASW plane. Maybe they can take a clue from Honda Aviation...No 1 in small corporate jets
And Honda also makes their own engines
Hint...engines mounted Above and behind the wing
Not below and in front of the wing.

Do you have any idea how many years it took Honda to get that engine mounting scheme to work without torquing the wings downward under maximum thrust? Almost two decades, that's how long.
The only advantage to that design is for small twin engine aircraft that would otherwise have their engines pylon mounted on the fuselage. With the engines on the wings, the area in the fuselage that would normally be filled with cross bracing to hold the engines is freed up for cargo storage. Every inch of space matters on a 4 passenger aircraft.

"...Maybe they can take a clue from Honda Aviation...No 1 in small corporate jets..." I'm sure moving the Max's big honkin' turbofans upward and aft would have had no appreciable affect on the airframe's CG or flight characteristics.
