Don’t like what the school serves?

Pack your kid a lunch

Simple as that

The “whole grain” thing has been debunked.

Such language. It isn’t a rollback. It is a restoration.

"I guess it's upsetting or annoying if we're not doing what's best for our kids," said Courtney Starbuck, a parent at Hubbell Elementary in Des Moines, adding that she relies on the school to provide her 7-year-old, Audrey, with a healthy meal. "The schools are just a place I can trust that my daughter is being well cared for, including her health and well-being and nutrition."

What an idiot.

If you want your kid to eat better, be the adult and the parent, and pack your daughter her lunch yourself.

Stop depending on someone to do your job for you.

Well, Courtney Starbuck, it is solely your responsibility to provide your child with healthy meals. By your own comment it looks as if you have failed. And that qualifies you as a bad mother.

There are varied tastes across the U.S. and within states. The reason there are school districts is to provide material structures for the students. Treat meals the same way. Let the school districts determine what they serve children based on location, ethnicity, religion and culture, et al.

Abolish meals thru schools...just offer snacks...apples, cheese, etc. Parents should provide MEALS.

Great, this is not that hard. Convince your local school system to maintain the Obama lunch requirements, and ante up to pay for it locally. Otherwise, sit down and shut up, we don’t want to hear your whining.

These Democrat mothers want their kids to be fed grain. Farmers feed their cattle grain to make them gain weight. Then we worry about the childhood obesity problem.

My kids only “bought” lunch on pizza day. Otherwise they preferred a bagged lunch from home. But there is NOTHING stopping this lady’s school or the Des Moines school system from mandating the lunch she prefers.

President Trump could have some fun with this. Only give the Michelle Obama menu to poor children on government aid. Those kids whose families don’t get aid can have food that tastes good.

The idea is like workfare. If you’re on the dole, you have to eat health food, like kale, tofu and bean sprouts. Maybe even an all vegetarian meal “to save the planet from global warming.”

You’re poor? No unhealthy junk food for you!

I have a child who has lived through the transition to the Obama lunches. Many kids eat very little because a lot of the food is processed to death and appears unappetizing. The food that was mandated by Michelle Obama to be served to the kids is either not being eaten, or just plain thrown away.

Let’s just get back to good old-fashioned home-cooked food, from real ingredients, that the kids really like. I guess I was fortunate growing up in a smaller school district where there were actual cooks in the kitchen (those ladies really had it ‘going on’) and managed to put out homemade pizza, chicken, turkey/potato/gravy dinners, etc...

Some parents are not alone.

Settled.

Am I wrong, aI thought you that it was only the mandate that was eliminated, who said they couldn’t keep their current menu until if they wanted. As I see it Trump just put the decision back in the hands of local schools.

If they were really concerned about their kids linches these parents could make them healthy lunches they deemed acceptable.

Oh but mom and dad can’t cook for crap...

Oh but they can’t be bothered to make up lunches...even though they talk about how precious their snowflake is...

Good grief!

POTUS took down an Obama dictat, he didn’t impose any new mandate, That means whole grains, crunchy kale, and dried insects are left to the locals to have at it.

If they aren’t eating the lunch its far more unhealthy for them than eating food that has some nutrition in it.
