MUELLER’S MOAN
Powerline ^ | 05/01/2019 | BY PAUL MIRENGOFF

Scott and Andy McCarthy make short work of Robert Mueller’s leaked letter of complaint to William Barr. The key thing, as McCarthy says, is that Barr’s memo on the Mueller report is 100 percent accurate.

According to the Washington Post, when Barr and Mueller spoke, Barr challenged Mueller to identify inaccuracies. Mueller acknowledged that there are none.

The essence of Mueller’s moan is that “the summary letter the [DOJ] sent to Congress and released to the public. . .did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions.” But the letter did not purport to do so.

As Barr reportedly explained to Mueller, he did not undertake, in his four page memo, to summarize the voluminous report, Instead, he intended only to provide an account of its bottom line conclusions on the two issues Mueller explored — was there collusion with Russia and was there obstruction of justice. Again, Barr’s account of Mueller’s two conclusions is entirely accurate.

Mueller reportedly responded that media coverage of the obstruction investigation is misguided and has created public misunderstandings. To the extent that the media portrayed Barr’s memo as more than just an account of the special counsel’s bottom line conclusions, Mueller has a right to be unhappy. But his grievance is with the media, not the Attorney General.

Of course, Mueller didn’t write a letter to Barr to complain about the media. He wrote it to complain about Barr. But when Barr pressed him during the phone conversation, he reportedly backed down and fell back on a complaint about the media.

It’s hard to avoid the suspicion that Mueller’s moan was driven by members of his team of Democratic partisans and Trump haters. They must have been disappointed that Mueller did not conclude that President Trump committed obstruction of justice, and dismayed when Barr and Rod Rosenstein concluded that Trump did not commit this offense.

Media coverage of Barr’s memo rubbed salt in the wound. One imagines that members of Mueller’s team pushed him to write a letter of complaint to Barr — a letter that, reportedly, he couldn’t defend when the two men talked by phone.

I’m speculating here, of course. However, it requires little speculation to say that someone on Mueller’s team leaked the letter to the press.

What we have, then, is a rearguard action by Team Mueller to wage war on Trump and Barr. Mueller’s legitimate work ended with the submission of his report, but Team Mueller isn’t done.

Barr gave Mueller a chance to review the 4 page summary. Have to ask why he didn’t.

The reason was Mueller and Dems got together and drummed up this hysteria to target Barr and to be able to get him to testify over his summary report and make a mockery of it all. Then someone on Mueller’s team leaked the memo as planned.

Mueller and Dems and Media working together to smear Barr.

Translation:

Muellers Team were Obstructing Justice by trying to Smear the AG before the Hearing, This Obstruction of Justice also takes the form of Mueller and his Team deliberately trying to sully the AG's Reputation before he Indicts the whole Cabal. This is what REAL Obstruction of Justice looks like.

After the Republican committee members are through with Mueller during his upcoming appearance he will wish he had never taken the assignment as SC.

I doubt the republican committee members will say anything to Mueller other than “let me be the first to kiss your a$$”.

The essence of Mueller’s moan is that “the summary letter the [DOJ] sent to Congress and released to the public. . .did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this office’s work and conclusions.” But the letter did not purport to do so...exactly so - it wasn't meant to be a "summary", it was a status report - not only that, but even if it were a summary, no summary can ever capture the full "context, nature, and substance" of the original, and to expect it would is just laughable - most important - the entire report (minus only redactions of grand jury information) is now available for every member of congress to read at his or her leisure - according to Howie Car this afternoon, so far only two congressmen have taken the time to review it - they were both Republicans......

Wouldn’t a memo between Mueller, a DOJ employee, and Barr be confidential? Who leaked it?

I suspect one of the scumbags on Mueller’s team leaked it. My guess is Weissman. The only reason that letter was written was to leak it at an opportune time, like the day before Barr testifies to undermine him. I think it is fairly obvious who leaked it and why. I suspect that if Barr thought Mueller was a good guy before all this, he likely doesn’t anymore.

I’d wager that Barr told Mueller he was a partisan-blind hack and the wording of the report was like a slanted op-ed and a disgrace to the DOJ.

Jordan, Meadows, Ratcliffe are going to rip Mueller a new one...I have 2 questions Mueller needs to be put on the spot for.

- Were you aware of of your lead attorney’s (Weissmman) involvement with the conspirators (Bruce Ohr and Peter Strzok) and the chain of custody of the Steele dossier? If so, why did this lead attorney remain on your team despite being a fact witness to the conspiracy?
- Why did you proceed to delete the text messages and emails of Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, boh members of your team, after you learned that Congress was seeking these text messages for further evidence of malfeasance and extreme bias against DJT?
