It is difficult to have a parent-teacher conference when the parent comes in drunk!
(Yes, I've participated in several such meetings).
My mom went to conferences wearing her factory clothes after work, and my dad went sometimes in his blue GM outfit before work.

The drunks don't show up very often, but once I had one show up drunk at back to school night - after ghosting me for several arranged meetings prior to that. He tried to fight his older child's teacher (the teacher was a very obviously physically sick person, too). Thankfully when he came to my room he only tried to start verbal trouble. His lack of desire to get physical in my room might have had something to do with the fact that my husband was there (and he is a very big guy). Just SO fun.
When having a small wedding with only me, my bride, the best man and his wife, the best man showed up drunk. Instead of a nice little homily about wedded bless, the pastor gave us a lecture. LOL
