For those too young to know, 'SCOUT' was an International Harvester (IH) brand of utility vehicle:

I was more partial to the Scout II.

<>P> Growing up, my friend's family were big into IH. His Dad drove a Travelall, and both he and his brother had Scout IIs.

I hope the Scout increases their stock price.

Let ‘em have the LGBTQ Boy and abortion supporting Girl Scouts, too.

If it’s the same Scout SUV that was posted a couple of weeks ago, the price is insanely expensive. I don’t remember exactly but think it is around eighty thou.

IH got out of the pickup and Scout business just as pickups and similar vehicle sales went to the moon.

Genius !

I knew a guy had one of those. He was an expert fabricator and stuck a 396 in it. It was a handful to drive with that short wheelbase, but sounded really, really good.

I like the Scout featured on the show Animal Kingdom. Any clue as to what year it is?

While never owning a Scout, from what I remember...it was a working-man’s vehicle and built more for farm/ranch work. I also remember people talking over the GPM situation, and I doubt that anyone got more than 14 mpg. I think most of the demise of the vehicle (1971-1980) was that IH management were running this, if it’d been Ford or Chevy...they would have improved upon the look or built a three-quarter’s version with better gas mileage.

So Ford can legally take the name Scout just by means of filing for a Trademark?

My friend had a Bronco II and he drove like an idiot. The Bronco II had a very unsettling way of going around turns especially in rain and I can’t believe we never flipped.

A high school pal's dad owned an IH pickup.
He said no one could successfully align the front end due to the primitive solid axle IH used...

As I recall, the original Scouts were very rust prone.

They were also very spartan. They don’t make spartan vehicles now days. They will use the name to charge a high price.

“Scout” should never be a Ford. It was an International Harvester vehicle. A 1960 Scout was my first car. My father bought it brand new in the winter of 1960 because one of his sisters who lived close to our farm had cancer and frequently needed to go the the hospital. The Scout had 4wd and could go through anything. This one was red with full white travel top. Four cylinder motor and three speed transmission with transfer case. You had to go out and lock the hubs to get it into 4wd. When I got my license in the spring of 1963, it became my go to school vehicle, go skiing vehicle and go on dates ride. It was a veteran of many drive-in’s and may have held a record for suffering through “The Dirty Dozen” at least a dozen times. It was bog slow and would top out at 80 mph that was attainable only on the PA Turnpike on a downhill section. A Scout should never wear the blue oval.
