Search for Frankfurt School. Top Google returns ridicule it as "tinfoil hat" fantasy. Wikipedia's article on Frankfurt School is instant-eye-glazing boring. (Reading Bella Dodd's School of Darkness, you sense that any adherents of the quasi-religious fervor of dedicated Communists 1930-1960 had to have a high tolerance for hyper-boring political theory.)
But look into the key points of the Frankfurt School, you're seeing an x-ray of the intellectual chaos driving college campuses for the past 50 years. Herbert Marcuse, brought to the US to work in the WWII O.S.S. by Edward R. Murrow, is the anti-godfather of the past 3 generations of college campus radical professors and administrators.
The mind recoils at how these people talk and think. They can't create anything, they're not living full personal or cultural lives. Their everyday thought and action is completely alien to that of almost anyone you have ever known.
If you were to spend more than a few seconds in their company, you could count on being verbally abused, hit, and eventually having your head beaten in.
"You aren't interested in the revolution? The revolution is interested in you." If you aren't in their political fight clubs, vying with them for supremacy, you'd better get ready for them to be marching down your street, making blood flow in the gutters.
You might never have wanted to own guns, nasty, portable toxic-waste factories. However, Leftists are increasingly becoming interested in gun ownership, training, and organization formation. (They conveniently exempt themselves from Progressive gun grabs.)
The essential difficulty is that normal people don't have any occasion to become obsessional and ruthless.
Ruthlessness is the primary feature of the people who are going to cause all the trouble. Normal people just want to live their lives, the ruthless left wants to live yours for you.
We can't hide. They're coming.
