What if your ancestors not only wheren’t slave owners, but fought or died fighting in the civil war? What if they were actually abolitionists? Should you be getting paid too?

Black people should be paying the US, for their ancestors having been brought here.

Otherwise they would still be living in abject poverty in Africa.

The Democrats,as usual, will pander to the black people in order to get their votes and then ditch them after the election as they have always done in the past.

If a biracial person had both slaves and slaveowners in his ancestry would that count?

LBJ.... President Johnson made the reparees wards of the state in his great new society, whereupon TRILLIONS have already been spent.

President Monroe gave them their own country.... and financed it too, Liberia

Democrats don’t care much for commonsense. Or Judeo-Christian morality. Or religion. Or science. Or law. Anything they can use to destroy capitalism and our traditional society is fine by them.

Right.

If white people gave black people a trillion dollars in reparations - it would be back in white peoples pockets in less than 3 years.

To make Whitey bow down in submission and willingly accept second class status, as the left prepares to do to him what south africa is doing.

Good point! For that matter why should I pay for someone else’s children? I didn’t have the pleasure of conceiving them. No one asked me if it was OK with me if they screw out a few kids at my expense. I’m sure I would have remembered. Why should I get the expense of raising them? Why should I pay for someone else’s health care? Just because I work my ass off and save my money why should I support someone else who sits on his ass all day smokes weed, drinks beer, and watches TV just because his/her lifestyle is more than his/her means??

Noting that reparations is now a desperate Democratic ploy to win votes to hold on to remaining power imo, constitutional lawmakers conceptually had the opportunity to give the feds the express power to appropriate taxes from former slave states for reparations purposes when they made the 13th, and arguably 14th Amendments, but did not do so.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."—Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

Also, consider former slaves who became millionaires by today’s standards.

“Otherwise they would still be living in abject poverty in Africa.”

Maybe they should focus on repatriation and not reparation.

Since the vast majority of slave owners, members of the Ku Klux Klan, promulgators of Jim Crow laws, and filibusterers of Voting Rights Act were members of the Democrat party, perhaps only democrats should be taxed to pay reparations!

I’ve never understood this. Taking money for those who never had anything to do with slavery, to give to those who were never slaves. This isn’t reparations, it’s a tax based on race and skin color to further separate the classes
