Are you in the market for a budget hunting rifle that performs reliably as any higher end rifle?
When you hear budget rifle and most of the time everyone is thinking junk rifle or broken hand me down. Its a good thing gun manufacturers don’t laugh at this notion but view it as an opportunity to produce reasonably priced hunting rifles in popular hunting calibers.
Yes, its true most lower end hunting rifles are a cut below of the more higher end rifles in the market. The rifles in this list are capable bolt-action hunting rifle in the right hands. Manufactures have capitalize on the advancements of gun technology that most of these lower end hunting rifles are actually more accurate than the top-of-the-line models of the past. Regardless of whether you're hunting deer, hogs, elk or any other big-game species in the U.S., these hunting rifles below deliver great performance at a reasonable price point.

The Ruger American is hard to beat for the money IMO. I have shot half a dozen and all shoot great.
Although the Mossberg 464 Lever Action 30-30 lists for ~$550, they are widely available new out-of-box for $400 - $450. Excellent bush rife for deer, coyotes, black bear, and even hogs.
At least you hit the target so you can cover up holes with nickels.....

I don’t doubt it at all. I have it in .30-06 while my sons have 7mm-08. The AccuTrigger is excellent. I believe the Savage has a free-floating barrel also.
Get a better scope with longer eye relief.
Mosin Nagant. When you don’t just want to shoot something but set it on fire and deafen it, too. They’re a hoot at the range. People who haven’t seen one always go “what the **** are you shooting?”

A lever action 30/30 would be more than enough gun for deer hunting in the lower 48 states. A used Winchester or Marlin can usually be found in the $200 range at most pawn shops, just check them out well before the buy. Look for older Marlins.
If you are hellbent on a bolt action rifle Savage would probably be your best bang for the buck and the caliber, .243 or bigger.
I passed many times on a US M1917 Enfield 30’06 caliber rifle that had been drilled and tapped and already had a good scope on it at the local pawn shop a few years back. $210OTD was the price. After 6 months of it sitting I came in to buy it and offer $200 and it had been sold right as deer season started.
It is definitely loud. It is as loud as a 10 gauge shotgun which is incredibly loud.
