Students at [middle school] are invited to participate in GLSEN's Day of Silence on April 12th, 2019. It's a national youth movement highlighting the silence and erasure of LGBTQ students at school. Nearly 4 in 5 LGBTQ students dont see positive LGBTQ representation in their curriculum, nearly 8 in 10 experience verbal harassment, and almost a third miss school for feeling unsafe or uncomfortable. But together, as part of GLSEN's Day of Silence, we can break the silence, making school a more inclusive for all! To sign up, see Ms. *** in Room ***. *The Day of Silence is a school day when learning needs to happen. Written participation is expected of all participants in all classes, using a notepad or computer.
Nearly 8 in 10 experience verbal harassment - according to LGBTQRSTUV, that means the school doesn’t teach that Lincoln was homosexual, and they teach that Washington was (biblically) married.
Equal time for protest needs to be requested by those outside the LGBTQ Community.
The equal time protest will involve attending school to learn something vs the alternate distorted Day of Silence.
Well said.
