A popular 70's family show about life that took place during the depression era. I never watched it but housewives liked it. Would it it help us be better men?
Get Deadwood or The Wire instead.
My mom would say yes, but she always liked boring movies.
No. Stop watching TV. :)
Like at a garage sale?
I bought the series for my daughter because they don’t have tv coming into their house. The grandkids like it, and my daughter and son-in-law don’t mind it at all. I also purchased Andy of Mayberry series, Leave It To Beaver series and Little House on the Prairie. I was going to spring for The Rifleman next, but it’s too expensive!
I’ll take the Robert Stack led Untouchables for Depression era TV. Yes I know the real Eliot Ness could only dream of what the TV version guy did.
The Waltons is a show I never cared for. John Boy annoyed me the most.
Just a little free trivia: The guy that played grandpa Walton was a flaming homosexual.
I haven’t seen it in a long time, but I liked...especially the early seasons. Good, wholesome family fare.
Would it help men become better? I doubt it.
My parents, who were very conservative, liked it because it reminded them of their youth.
I would not recommend it tho. Several of the stars were hard core Communists or something similar. It had a lot of leftist messages but I will admit not as bad as most.
Fist full of dollars.
You folks are my conscience.Even those that dissed my other posts.
BTW I bought Mary Tyler Moore DVD’s for the first 3 years. Haven’t gotten to it but it was a great show. The characters. Spinoffs.
Then there was The Avengers. The Emma Peel Collection. Disappointed. Spy-Fy when James Bond and The Man From Uncle was en vogue. Friday nights with her and The Smothers Brothers made Friday nights something to look forward to for a teenager.
How many chicks you got in your household?
You can watch them for free right now with prime on amazon
I am a girl and personally I always found that show to be yawnsville. Could not watch it.
But it’s a matter of taste I suppose.
If by ‘become a better man,’ you mean getting rid of your toxic masculinity, save yourself money and just watch the LIfetime network until you’re cured.
As for the suggestion above of Deadwood, it might not help you be a better man, but your vocabulary will be enriched.
Full Metal Jacket will make you a better man.
What little I remember most was the final scene when they took turns saying good nite to each other.
Only if you like barfing every time you watch one!
This describes the show a bit, including that the grandparents (actors) were both homosexuals.
