Blue heron..see them all the time here in Florida. They are active at night too. I can hear them yak yak as they fly over all hours. They’re very mouthy if you displease them by shooing them off your boat or seawall or whatever. They’re big crappers too.

Startled a heron hiking once (me too) I had quietly came around a bend on the trail to a small pond he was fishing at. He grawked and took off, mouthing what I can only guess were ornithological expletives the whole way, and simultaneously dropped an impressive load of crap into the pond from about 15’ AGL.

I’ve surprised a couple from underneath. They do try to crap on you. I’ve heard that walking under a rookery is a hellish experience.
