It doesn’t occur in Outlook in any other browser, and they have obvious ways to change the size. (This laptop likes to fiddle with it when I try to block off text so I can copy and paste it.)

It doesn’t occur in Outlook in any other browser,

OK, so you are using Outlook in Office Online, not the standalone Microsoft Outlook email client.

Ctrl + and - should work.

can I assume it’s outlook.com and not outlook from Office ?

If it is outlook.com, MS is doing a makeover.
Note: Outlook.com is being currently being updated. Some people will still see the classic version until we complete the update, and others will see the new Outlook.com experience. For more information, see Welcome to Outlook.com.

They have info here that may help:
https://support.office.com/en-us/article/get-help-with-the-new-outlook-com-fa2e5110-fa17-4b3b-88c8-87812230a048

you can look here for some info. I’ms starting to like lifewire more an more for help with software\hardware issues.

https://www.lifewire.com/change-font-size-hotmail-1174266
https://www.lifewire.com/change-default-font-1174243

I wish I had a definitive answer for you. Still not enough info.
I haven’t used outlook in awhile, but because of your questions, I set up outlook.com

The only font settings i see in outlook.com are for composing emails.
Any other size changes i can only seem to make by the browse zoom function.

let us know if you run across the answer and what the answer is.

I installed Pale Moon.

as others have suggested it’s CTL + or CTL - for zoom in or out .
what I don’t know yet, is, where the zoom % is ( if there is one )

I really like Pale Moon, but Facebook and other online entities are always telling me to “update your browser” and some features won’t work at all. So I went back to Firefox.

I hate Firefox because it doesn’t open my “homemade” home page (an html page of oft-used hyperlinks located on my C: drive) in each new tab. I have to click the little house icon to open it.

Also, here lately, sites I visit, especially news sites and news blogs, tell me to turn off my ad blocker before I can see the content. I try to follow their instructions for disabling the ad blocker, but it never works. Irritating that I can’t see what I went there to read.

You’re welcome. Holding down the Alt key and pressing the left arrow takes you back a page, pressing the right arrow takes you forward a page.

On the top right you should see 3 horizontal bars.

Click on the bars.

Click other settings.

Click appearance.

Click font size.

Yes, it was Outlook.com. One of the free availabilities offered by my ISP.

I tried ctrl+O, and that worked. I still wish there were some more obvious way.

Did it change the font size only in your email, or across everything you go to?

Also, what email are you using? They usually have settings within the page for the email client.

A temp fix (if it’s just email) is to use the Ctrl-(+ or -) to size in and out, or you can press Ctrl and use your scroll wheel on the mouse.

Hmmm. You can try checking your Outlook settings, it might have reset to a different default on a new browser. otherwise, zooming in/out with Ctrl-mouse wheel is probably the easiest temporary solution.
