I should have known this was coming sooner or later, given my unhealthy living style and other health risk factors, but it did come, quietly on padded feet in the hushed hours of early morning.
I had a silent heart attack.
I woke up to take a piss but was unable then to fall back asleep. I kept waking up again to gasp for breath, which was weird. After perhaps thirty minutes of this, I gave up and arose to poke at the Internet for clues. Carbon monoxide poisoning was a possible cause, but then why were alarms not ringing all over the apartment building?
The symptoms gasping for breath, a rubber heart slamming around erratically for far longer than usual with a known heart condition, and a mild but oddly disproportionate nausea increased to a clammy, cold sweat.
Okay. I try not to be an idiot. The Mayo clinic and other websites described this as indicative of a so-called silent heart attack.
I took the easy way out. I gobbled down four baby aspirin for a total of about 320 milligrams of this cheap, off-the-shelf clot-buster drug. Then I waited. Hospitals scare me too many people go into them for one problem and end up acquiring other serious problems, most notably hospital-borne diseases.
The symptoms worsened, stabilized, and faded away. I was not happy but at least relieved. I need to lose a lot of weight right now and to eat way more healthy, beneficial, and disgusting cruciferous vegetables. Happy, happy, joy, joy. At least I already like steamed broccoli.
I'm alive and not quietly rotting away until the neighbors complain of a terrible smell from my apartment. This is good news. I'm not complaining.
That's my little story for the day. It is to be hoped it didn't bore you. Be of good cheer!
Congratulations on your survival.
Go to the hospital.
Wow! Your actual Wake-Up Call! Glad you survived and have time for diet and exercise changes!
What he said.
You’re gambling with your life. Either go to the hospital or at the very least, call a cardiologist in the morning. Good luck.
See a doctor, get a test. They have all kinds of stuff now to detect heart defects. Better to at least know than be surprised.
Death scares me more than hospitals.....
Get real... aspirin is the last go to with nothing else but the clot busting drugs that Doc’s have are nothing short of miraculous....
Go see a Doc....
And get sepsis and pneumonia and die.
friends wife had a stroke at 63,cigs,no ex crappy diet.
They switched to vapping, told em there nuts to inhale anything but fresh air and now they dont talk to me......oh well at this rate they wont be talking to any one.
Good luck time to use it or loose it
Have you checked your BP recently? Go see your doctor at least and soon.
Take a baby aspirin 81mg at night in the meantime plus eat garlic daily if youre too stubborn to seek medical help ASAP.
Start walking.
By that I mean, begin to immediately change your unhealthy ways by walking. A mile (at least) per day. Don’t run - walk. You can walk a mile in less than 20-30 minutes.
Factor in other healthy lifestyle changes and you will be amazed at how fast the pounds fall off and how better you feel.
But start off walking.
See a cardiologist ASAP. At least get diagnosed to find exactly what is going on. I hate doctors but I went!!
Get to a doctor or hospital immediately. You may be just in a temporary calm time before the big one hits. Do it immediately.

Glad you made it. See a cardiologist. Been there; explained in my FReeper profile.
But if you are serious about going on a diet, losing weight and feeling better, take the low-carb no added sugar approach. Don't worry about the fat and protein, it's the carbs (sugar) that's killing you.
But see a doctor!
Both my vaping friends died before they reached 70.
Similar symptoms; vague indigestion but no pain. Went to emergency room to get checked out and ended up in hospital and a stent. I asked cardio doc if I had a “mild” heart attack. He said “I don’t know what you would call them, but I call them heart attacks.”
I’ve known a couple of people that waited and it did not end well.
