The best AR-15s cost less now than the cheapest ones will, if the Democrats gun-ban legislation gains steam.
After I suggested reasons to own AR-15s and to fight Democrats new attempt to ban them, some readers wrote to request recommendations for the best AR-15s to have and the best ways to equip them. Because self-defense is the primary reason Americans buy guns, including a million AR-15s every year, here are, I believe, the top 10 characteristics of AR-15s configured for defensive purposes and the top 10 components they should have.
Top 10 Characteristics 1. Caliber
U.S. Special Operations Command will soon field rifles in 6.5mm Creedmore, a caliber already in use by the armed citizenry, and the Army is considering a new 6.8mm cartridge. However, for now, an AR-15 should be chambered for 5.56mm NATO because of the variety and availability of ammunition in that caliber. (Note: A 5.56mm AR-15 can also use lower-pressure .223 Remington cartridges, but not vice versa.)

The 6.8 thing was more than a decade ago. The article is nothing special, I only posted it because it was posted in a political site, the Federalist, indicating to me that concern about CW2 is spreading even to the GOP brainiacs.
That's gotta be the latest addition to George Carlin's list of misnomers.
The irony was intentional.
I had five AKs and sold all but one when prices went north of 900 dollars back when “they weren’t going to import any more.”
You can take a guess on whether bought some back now that prices are back to about 5-600 (these are Yugos, Chinese, and one Czech underfolder).
Never sell your personal stuff, and I am not saying how many of those I have.
Yes, just trying to help out. :)
Thanks again for the tip about Scopes and stuff.
Apparently they are taking another look at the 6.8mm.
Maybe a nextgen version with a poly casing instead of brass to save weight? Anyway, doesn’t look like it will be the same 6.8SPC that was developed years ago.
Polymer and caseless ammo always run into an overheating problem. Brass drags away mucho calor.
The better armed we are, the more chance to delay and defuse a conflict.
The better armed we are, the more chance to survive and win a conflict.
These are the truths the Left tries to deny.
Many thanks for posting !
