So if some refineries need more heavy crude, cant they just get loads of Canadian sand oil and cut it in?

As if we are in ANY POSITION to comment on the legitimacy of elections.

I took a Southern Caribbean cruise in November. There were stops in Curacao and Aruba. Both are having problems with refugees fleeing Venezuela. In Curacao, they opened the "floating market" again. That's where Venezuelan fishermen and farmers sell their produce. I saw those starving, decent, hard working people. I gave one $1 for two bananas, and he insisted I take six! These are real people. Let's stop punishing governments, and start working with them. Otherwise, it only serves to create more countries which are in chaos and can't sustain their population. But it's a real good situation for corporate oil interests and those who favor cheap labor.
True conservatives would want to help those farmers and fishermen. Not make their lives even worse.

There’s politics, and there’s living expenses. I can’t afford a big jump in the price of fuel oil. It’s already one of my worst expenses.

Why would US refiners want that tar?
