UK Pundit Analyzes 2020 Race: Their US Editor is Laughably Ignorant of US Political History

Because I spend most of my work hours at the local library, I regularly check the magazine/newspaper racks and scan plenty of partisan Leftist and fake news commentary from the New York Times, Time, and the Christian Science Monitor.

But to my judgement the absolute worst US politics commentary is written by the Economist, a London-based publication that circulates internationally.   The Economist writes a regular US politics column that always takes potshots at Trump and we Deplorables.

But today I read a 400-word sidebar entitled "The Field for 2020", a story containing a serious error and written by none other than Economist's IYI US Editor, London-based John Prideaux:

  • Prideaux Doesn't know Michael Bloomberg is the former Mayor of New York City (BTW, 12 years in office )

Claiming that Bloomberg at first glance is a tempting pick for the Dems, he nonetheless feels it's "hard to see a plutocrat" making it through the Dem primaries.

He goes on to explain (using Herman Cain as an example) that Democrats are smart enough to know that "prior experience in government is an asset" -- so Bloomberg can't get elected.

  • Prideaux shamelessly hurls insults as President Trump and Republican voters

We hear that Trump voters are "prone to misogny and racial bias" and President Trump himself is put down for his "publicity stunt" announcement in 2015, being a "celebrity" candidate, and a harasser of women.

  • No serious discussion of the leading candidates is provided, but Joe Biden has "theoretical appeal"

Basically, Prideaux's story is not what it purports to be. There is no analysis of the "2020 field" of candidates, just time-worn platitudes about Democrats picking a "safe" white male from the middle of the country.

The arrogance of Economist editors is astounding. They are "know-it-alls" in US politics -- and yet this editor made a serious factual statement that anyone who follows US politics would catch.

What these Economist editors can't see -- or fail to acknowledge -- is their own home country is rapidly becoming a basket case.

Check your facts and get your own house in order, you hateful and partisan IYI fools!  You're completely blind to the fact that our courageous and smart President has put America on the path to Greatness again.

Some times it’s best to vent your anger. But it’s even better when you catch an obvious error by the US Editor of a British magazine that is constantly attacking Trump.

Enjoy a laugh at his expense!

Economists and weathermen are applauded if they are right 50% of the time, like a coin flip.

The Upper Class Twit of the Year seems to have no connection to the US at all other than a short time in DC as a correspondent.

That job was the prize he won in the Silly Walk Competition.

Excellent catch.

The Economist is a shadow of its former self.

Actually, I think that they see it and feel the need to divert attention from it as they are MILDLY Tory, anti-BREXIT and cannot stand Labour & its leader, Jeremy Corbyn!

Yes!! I can remember when it was a half-decent business news magazine but I'm old and that was decades ago. It's still struggling to be relevant in the Asian market where I live but it's western political slant is decidedly globalist and anti-Trump....like the preponderance of British media actually.

The splashing and gurgling sounds are the noises made before it sinks beneath the surface into oblivion.
