Actually, by the time you get those who style themselves socialist and who want the benefits to the elites that socialism invariably provides they are more true to the Dream rather than less ... the others were just drooling fanboys dreaming of a revolution that was never to be as advertised. In socialism the elites (ie top government employees and officials) never live socialism. It’s only the commoners who get to wait in a two hour line for a roll of toilet paper
