.... DHS explicitly permits such donations at the directive level. DHS Directive Number: 112-02 Issued on February 11, 2008, Gifts To The Department Of Homeland Security explicitly states in Section V: E. DHS may accept gifts to carry out program functions regardless of whether or not appropriated funds are available for that purpose, provided such expenditures are not barred by law or regulation....
There are regulations and laws that appear to prohibit donations but those involve situations in which accepting the donation for a specific purpose would thereby obligate the department to draw upon other funds in addition to the donated funds to carry out the project.
[UPDATE: An alert commentator on this article at Free Republic reminds us of President Ronald Reagans appeals for students to send in their pennies to restore the Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island. The private donations to save Lady Liberty were so extensive that they wrote a book about it, The Statue of Liberty: A Transatlantic Story. A private foundation raised $100 million towards the $230 million budget, of which $63 million came from corporate deals negotiated largely by Lee Iacocca. See Corporations Saved the Statue of Liberty: .....Third, Congress has already voted to build a border wall. The Secure Fence Act of 2006 both authorizes and requires the building of physical barriers along the entire Southern border, except where the natural topography creates a physical barrier naturally. The word fence should not confuse us. The law requires DHS to determine whatever is necessary to completely prevent any unauthorized entry. So in the 2006 law, fence is explicitly defined to mean whatever it takes. ... Fourth, GoFundMe ...is prepared to automatically refund donations if proper release of the funds is not confirmed, since donations are by credit card. . . .

until a Judge decides to block this.
until the government decides they don’t want to build no stinkin’ wall.
Sheila Retard Lee just introduced a bill in the House to block this.
Perfect name for that dip!
Perfect name for that dip!
Building a wall is not a question of money, but one of overwhelming national will and determination.
In order for a wall to be built and REMAIN STANDING for decades, there has to be a more or less permanent desire for the wall on the part of the people (as shown by whom they elect).
Without such strong and resolute support, an incoming open border administration could easily tear down the wall.
The followers become the leaders..!
iirc, that bill applied to “taxpayers” only. how can one prove that any of the donated money came from “taxpayers”?

Good wait till the Donald rips her on Twitter.
Something like. Dems take your money but won’t protect you, now they wont let you donate money to protect yourselves .
Get the picture. These people are only interested in power and themselves....

Let the people and the President be dammed; - the politicians will decide what’s good for the Country!
Sickening!
Damage done. The swamp raised enough doubts that it really hurt the momentum. If people were confident the money they give would go to the wall the donations would go through the roof. Now I think it would take Trump to get behind it. If he did the country would be shocked by how much was raised.
Good. I think I’ll make another donation.
I want to buy a brick with my name on it. Make that offer, and that wall will be funded tomorrow.
Brian Kolfage went to D.C. two days ago for meetings with lawyers and legislators to resolve the best way to provide the close to $18M and rising donations for the fund to be used for its intended purpose. According to his most recent update, the meetings were successful and he will be making a major announcement this week.
Except that its a lot harder, both physically and politically, to tear down a physical wall than it is to just quietly scale back virtual border enforcement methods. Thats why they dont want the wall, because it will be both effective and resistant to their double-talking efforts to weaken border security when no one is looking.
I still havent seen anyone question Dems on their statement that the wall would not be effective.
Make them explain why, since walls have worked elsewhere.

Just do it.
If Trump gets behind this it will only be after he gives up on Congress. He loses leverage once he touts this.
