Well, this certainly explains why Mueller kept kicking Flynn’s sentencing down the road. He was obviously hoping to bag get something on Trump that would make his misconduct with Flynn small, ignorable potatoes.
It does not look like that is going to happen and the glaring lack of a genuine 302 for the interview in question is a glaring fatal flaw in the government’s so-called case against the General. I don’t see how the judge could possibly let this stand, but I’m not making any bets. I’ve been disappointed far too many times by expecting to see “justice” out of Washington DC.
Incompetent or compromised. Of the two, I find the latter to be more likely. Given everything else we have seen over the last couple of years, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Mueller’s goons had somehow managed to get to his lawyers to make pointed “suggestions” on what they should advise the general, along with some carefully worded information on potential “consequences” if they didn’t heed that advice.
I agree with you and Mueller is an arrogant prick who thinks he can toss the Judge a bone.
I don't think he did that just so he could "castigate" Mueller and let the case stand.
Personally, I think everyone involved in the case knew all along what was going on ... and the judge and Flynn's legal team waited until they had irrefutable evidence of prosecutorial misconduct before they would take the next steps.
POWELL: NEW FACTS INDICATE MUELLER DESTROYED EVIDENCE, OBSTRUCTED JUSTICE
As I hear over and over again, from Presidents down to Reps on a town council, they all want a legacy...Here’s your chance, Judge Emmet Sullivan, blow this whole crooked scheme up.
Muellers treatment of Papa-D and Manafort was bad enough.
But something about this Flynn case, and what he means to the Trump movement, his service, and his anti-Obama foreign policy REALLY REALLY should strike a chord here.
Sensing a shameful end to Mueller is coming. Or else things get extremely bad.
If the case was dismissed a year ago, then Flynn would have been an innocent man who had spent a fortune clearing his name. By letting the case drag on to the point where Mueller's team has been exposed for what they've done so late in the process, they stand a better chance of having the case thrown out along with a judicial finding of prosecutorial misconduct that will allow them to sue the U.S. Department of Justice to recover damages.
Thanks.
The lack of a legitimate 302 means Mueller has and has had zero evidence against Gen Flynn right from the start
There is no way to spin this in a positive fashion
The best Mueller can hope for is a malicious and false prosecution charge, which is preferable to charges of attempts to suborn perjury and a whole host of other appropriate charges
bttt
First of all, Flynn decided to plead guilty, which means NOT making a defense.
Second, the back story on all this is that Mueller threatened to indict Flynn's son on some charge related to lobbying for Erdogan and the country of Turkey.
Mueller has a habit of withholding exculpatory evidence. Mueller withheld evidence that would have cleared Sen. Ted Stephens.
Your prediction is a likely one, but boy the persecution of Flynn is really on display. It is very unusual that the judge told them to provide the original interview notes - and they didn’t.
Agreed, there will be a bunch of bluster followed by nothing.
What does Flynn know that is making the corrupt state so apoplectic? Any good theories out there?
Unfortunately, that's my prediction too.
Well, Flynn knows the corruption and how deep it goes. They don’t want to be exposed.
