A man of wealth who loved his country enough to risk it all in WWII and almost gave the ultimate price. What ever else he was a great American. RIP Mr President.
And while the details of Donald Trumps net worth are murky, its been estimated that he reportedly has more money than every other U.S. president combined.
And I just hit halfway there in our marriage.
I never thought he was super-rich. Much richer than I’ll ever be, but nothing compared to the Kennedys or Clintons or Trumps.
Let’s talk about that Obama and Clinton “wealth”.
Not surprising but what they left out was the fact that Bush Sr. headed out to Texas on his own and got his own start in the oil business by selling oil drilling equipment which then evolved into his forming his own oil company.......He wasn’t what you would consider a typical Kennedy........
He was not super rich. He was worth more than I am, but not by much. He was not even close to Trump. And Trump’s wealth makes him pretty much immune to bribery or influence from campaign donors. That is what the left hates the most.
I have yet to see a mention of Prescott Bush, HW’s father, who was a Senator from Connecticut in the 50’s. His father as well was prominent in the Hoover Administration. The Bush family’s service in politics goes back a long way
“The Bushes are the epitome of old moneytheir wealth stretches back generations, and they are rich, but never flashy.”
They always seem to leave out the detail that their family wealth was made funding Hitler.
There it is, before they can even say Bush was a World War 2 Vet and fighter pilot who survived being shot down, they have to say he had a silver spoon in his mouth.
So when in fact he was elite as judged by skill they have to make it sound like he had everything handed to him and divide by societal wealth, class.
What a stupid article header. Bush Senior was emphatically not born into exceptional wealth. At his death in the early 1970’s, Prescott Bush was worth $3.5m. Even then, that wasn’t exceptional wealth. It was what a successful upper-middle class professional might bequeath to his heirs, but it wasn’t exceptional. When Bush Senior was born, Prescott Bush was 29, over 4 decades before he accumulated the $3.5m he left behind.
An excerpt from a biography of the Bushes:
https://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/01/books/chapters/1st-chapter-bush-tragedy.html
[The cheapness of the Bush men isnt just an endearing comic trait. It reflects the reality that there has never been any large pool of capital on the Bush side of the family. Though he poor-mouthed preposterously, Prescott actually accumulated fairly little, and didnt leave much behind.]
Cripes. Like the article imparts, the Walker’s Point property in Maine sky rocketed in value and GHWB was paid mega-millions for the books he wrote.
The old man Bush’s grandfather worked for the Rockefellers. That says a lot about the Bushes.
W was paid around $30,000,000 in speaking fees from 2009-2015. The members of the Deep State never go away.
On another note post I wrote HW Bush was CIA director under JFK. It was Ford.
I thought there was more to the story than just starting from scratch in the Texas oil business.
