I remember for maybe my 10th birthday, maybe younger, I asked for a drum set.

I was SO EXCITED to run downstairs on Christmas Eve and there it was!!!!!....

A snare drum.

Cause we were lower middle class.

And I was crushed. Should have been thankful. But the rest of the neighborhood wasn’t as lower income as us so I wanted as much as they got.

Got a paper route by 11 and got my own drum set.

Used Ludwigs :)

When I was 15, I almost never get the gifts I wanted so I worked for it. I helped my uncle for his HVAC business cleaning up and answering his phone calls because I wanted this dented Ibanez Les Paul at the nearest pawn shop. I figured out girls dig this rocker dude’ image I had in middle school LOl so I worked the entire summer for it.

I had a paper route by 11 too. I bought all my own clothes and really anything else beyond a roof and food. Trudeau senior had really ruined things and my father worked hard to make sure we kept a roof and food.

Birthdays weren’t fun because I got presents, it was fun because family and friends would get together and we’d have camp fired and roast hotdogs and drink some pop heh.
