Paradise, California has become hell on earth. My thoughts and prayers go out to the thousands of displaced families. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and devastation they are currently experiencing. Only 80 miles north of my hometown of Sacramento, this has been an issue close to home for me, but the smoky skies weve been experiencing here are nothing compared to what the residents of Paradise are now going through. I am so proud of our firefighters, first responders, and many volunteers who have come together during this crisis to do everything they can to alleviate the destruction this quaint Northern California has seen since the fire began on November 8.
Even though it started almost two weeks ago, the Camp Fire probably wont be fully contained until the end of November. The fire ravaging Butte County has been by far the deadliest in the states history by far, with 77 dead so far and the destruction of more than 10,500 homes. The swath of scorched earth has taken out an area roughly the size of Chicago. And there are still almost 1,000 people missing.

Our side needs to do a better job of chronicling all the things that demonstrate how everything, absolutely everything, liberals touch gets ruined.
And then make sure it gets out there for all to see. Over and over and over again.
In the halls of Congress, on C-Span, every interview done by big media let it be mentioned, talk radio, and at the dinner table.
Pretty good article.
When you blame “climate change” for the fires, you relieve yourself of responsibility - you can’t do anything about it and you can always blame the other guy.
Forest companies, like Weyerhauser, only survive if they manage the forests wisely. Therefore they do exactly that.
Radical environmentalists’ attempts to protect certain species and old-growth forests have, in fact, destroyed them.
Private, capitalist companies, as usual, will do a better job.
Common Sense , they has none
And how conservatives have to clean up their messes. Our little podunk rural VFD sent a crew out there. One guy had only been married a couple of weeks. He’ll be gone longer than what he’s been married. Way to go CA libs who’d rather people die than clear out the underbrush.
I live in the heart of Douglas Fir land, SW Oregon, our coastal mountains grow more Douglas Fir trees than anywhere on earth. Moved here from Seattle in 1994, the year of the "spotted owl" legislation. I loved big trees, did not want them cut down but then I learned about the Oregon forests and the way the Fed, state, County and private lands are distinguished.
About a hundred years ago, the feds gave the Oregon coast mountains to the railways, they built the rail line and sold the left over land to the counties. That land is now called ONC land. A promise was made to the counties from the feds that it is to be used for county government, revenue from the timber management would sustain our counties for centuries, except they lied and included it in the spotted owl legislation.
The environmentalists are running Oregon's forest management programs, let them burn, no spray for weeds of any kind once burned, nor cutting of any dead or dying trees ever!! When the fire comes again, the dead trees and huge weed covered land, goes up like an inferno, and threatens private timberland nearby. Private land that is managed, logged, sprayed and replanted. Like a crop, Douglas fir trees are a crop a 40 year crop that is Oregons main resource of our land.
I’m sorry, but the lead article was just too depressing for me to finish reading.
Better people than I need to encourage us all to face truths too grim to absorb, let alone rectify.

For me this is the definitive writing on managing forest fires. Dr. Wattenberg had late night radio show from the bay area. He worked at Lawrence Livermore Labs and was called the smartest man you can talk to for free (on the radio).
The state of Cal ignored him on gasoline additives and clearing underbrush from forests, He died 3 months ago, but his work is on the internet.
Bloated Federal Agencies Are to Blame for CAs Wildfires
Bozo Brown may want to look into the number of bloated agencies California has.
Huh uncle Jerry
These fires started the day that the IRS gave the 503 (c) status to the Sierra Club.
EVERY SINGLE person who donated as much as 1 dollar to them & Western Watersheds and other enviro groups is guilty of this fire.
Other than the loss of life. I wouldn’t care if the entire State burned up! The people who are responsible for this disaster deserve it!
I heard they spotted it but the road to get there was too sketchy and it was too windy for tankers
Having been on the skyway. The only road up there from
Chico. It must have been hella scary that morning
Poor older folks didnt have much of a chance
