All press questions submitted at least 48 Hours in advance in writing.

Questions selected to get presidential response will be disposed in predetermined order.

It was like that for eight years.

Many reporters quit.

Some were reassigned. A few like Helen Thomas, were fired.

The white house press hasn’t been this free since JFK.

FDR had the strictest press procedures of all mass communication era presidents of all. Among his contemporary leaders, he ranked with Stalin.
