Socialism Is the ‘Leeching’ of Our Time
American Greatness ^ | Nov 9, 2018 | Spencer P Morrison

Published in 1818, Horace Smith’s “Ozymandias” imagines a London long-since abandoned—the English civilization is gone. Collapsed. The city is a new Rome. A half-forgotten memory like Babylon. Troy.

"…We wonder—and some Hunter may express Wonder like ours, when thro’ the wilderness Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chase, He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess What powerful but unrecorded race Once dwelt in that annihilated place."

Perhaps this is London’s destiny—perhaps it’s ours too. After all, many of America’s greatest cities are decaying before our very eyes.

Consider Detroit. Its population plummeted by 63 percent since 1950, in no small part because it is plagued by America’s highest violent crime rate. More than 78,000 buildings are empty and many of its greatest monuments—reminders of its gilded past—lie abandoned. Within our lifetimes this all-American city, once teeming with life and commerce, ossified into an archeological ruin. Soon Detroit will be a memory, not a place.

Detroit is not unique—large swathes of America are rotting away beneath our feet. Look at California: 50 years ago the Golden State was home to America’s largest and most affluent middle class. It was a beacon on a hill, the apotheosis of the American dream. Now it is dystopia. One-in-five Californians live below the poverty line. It is “home” to one quarter of America’s homeless population. California’s income inequality is worse than Mexico’s.

Is America following the same course that all great Republics have in the past? Is it because the youth are eventually so far removed from the history of the Republic’s creation that they forget the history that led to its creation and are doomed to repeat the mistakes that have caused previous Republics’ downfalls?

One of the younger guys at my job asked me what I thought a socialist was.
I replied, “A socialist is a communist who hasn’t murdered anyone yet.”

The goal of socialism is communism.

The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.

I’m not sure if our youth are any more removed from history than the youth of prior generations.

I would suggest that the wealth of Americans, in general, has shifted their perspective on what’s important.

As wealth, prosperity and living standards have increased, humility has decreased.

“What happened? We turned our backs on God.”

What happened is the result of planned external and subversive internal intervention, and it has been a long process. This didn’t all happen by accident, or some natural progression of society.

Divide and conquer is a very fundamental principle, and a very effective way to wage and win battles - overt or covert. Since the Civil War, have we ever been more divided as a nation?

Many of us have let this happen, either because we were too busy to fight back, too detached, too complacent, or we were like the frog in the slowly heated water - oblivious to the changes around us that were slowly progressing to a level that would ultimately challenge our survival.

We let them preach the value of socialism and communism from our universities - to our own children. Then we let them take over school boards and define the curriculum in grade schools. We sat back while hate was being taught, and politicians manipulated struggling minorities in order to solidify their own political power - or to push their agenda.

With our own money we lined the pockets of the entertainment industry, while they cultivated hate against simple values - and pushed a narrative of anti-American guilt to us and our children. We sat back while they altered the language and created a new ‘mainstream’ reality - including the ‘mainstream’ false narratives propagated by the media.

It’s a big battle ahead, but it has to start by pointing out truths everywhere. We are, to some extent, at the level of choosing between the incarcerating ‘comfort’ of the Matrix, or the uncomfortable but self-determining truth of reality and freedom.

By the way, Jim, you did fight back, and are a big part of the solution. Many of us haven’t been.

It is my understanding that ancient Rome was eventually considered as not worth living in, full of people expecting free stuff and bloodthirsty entertainment.

Constantine officially authorized Christianity in 313 and moved the main seat of government to what is now Istanbul.

Leftism in general is the great evil of our time. Of this I am 100% certain.

Why we even let brain damaged leftists vote is a great mystery. They are incapable of logical thought.

Where did the author get this translation?
