A good cause. My God, imagine being born addicted to heroin or opioids.

To the First Lady's List.

Prayers for those suffering from that addiction.

Good for her. A worthwhile cause. I was greatly impressed with Melania’s appearance on 20/20.

I’ve taken care of quite a few of these infants when I worked in NICU. They really suffer for weeks and weeks. And you frequently have to deal with the mother at the bedside.
It’s not easy work and it takes a lot of patience.

Melania has probably had a really insulated life up till now. She’s really getting an education. It kills me that she’s being treated so horribly. I’ll never forget how the Trumps were treated.

I hope she makes a difference with this issue. It’s possible, which is pretty amazing. Yeah, she is great as far as I can tell. They would have been renaming streets already if she was a dem 1st lady with the way she looks.

Growing up poor in a communist country? Compared to who?

I beg your forgiveness. Adult life. But I would be interested to hear of her difficulty growing up if you know about it.

Yeah, everything I have heard about this situation is just awful. Going through withdrawal and beyond as a new born baby must be just horrible for all involved.

As a NICU nurse, I took care of a lot of those babies. Thank God for our volunteer cuddlers.

The last couple of years when I was caring for those babies, the mothers were encouraged to visit and help with their care. The babies did a lot better.

It’s really cool such a cool lady might raise awareness of this situation. It is possible these people might actually help these poor kids. I wouldn’t bet against the Trumps at this point.

Melania grew up in communist Yugoslavia during some turbulent times. Hardly insulated.

States like Maine and Vermont look the other way, and most of the others have become apathetic towards punishing the mother. Only Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee enforce criminal penalties. The main argument I suppose is that the mothers are ‘victims’ of an ‘illness’ of addiction. But there’s no counter-argument that the unborn child is being forced to develop the same ‘illness’. That and a general reluctance of the mother or the state to go after the specific pusher in question does leave the punishment for the women to bear, but only because they refuse to give up their pusher-man:

I wished to hell the powers would be would get off the ‘’opioid ‘’ epidemic bullshit and deal with addicted people on a case by case basis. Recently I had a major urinary tract infection that was causing me tremendous pain. The doctor I went to said he couldn't prescribe anything and that if I was in such pain I should go to the emergency room at my local hospital which would have meant four or five hours of waiting around , in pain, hoping for some relief. It was only the antibiotics he could prescribe and eating a boatload of Advil that I was able to get any relief but I was in agony for two days and nights. As a recovering alcoholic it isn't AA's philosophy to ban everyone from drinking. I wish to hell all of these 'drug warriors would shut the f**k up.

Go to an AA meeting sometime and meet people whose mothers drank during their pregnancy. There is NO cure for what has happened to people like that. It's heartbreaking. I'm talking about forty year old adults who have lived a horrible life as the adult children of alcoholics. I don't know of anyone calling for the outlawing of booze again.

During my amputation they killed me with opioids and brought me back with Narcan.

Who do you mean ‘’They?’’. My point is the idiotic way this society looks at addiction as if everyone who needs pain medication is an addict. That’s a dumb as saying everyone who drinks becomes an alcoholic or everyone who owns a gun is a mass murderer.
