If Warriors' Steve Kerr has his way, San Antonio Spurs' Gregg Popovich and Texas U.S. Senate Candidate Beto O'Rourke will be on the 2020 Presidential ticket.

Even though there has been a push for Kerr and Pop to run for the presidency, Kerr showed his support for O'Rourke with the Spurs Head Coach as his running mate for Vice President.

Sadly, you are correct. Usually I can detect sarcasm but I missed this one by a mile.

Please accept my apology.

Again, my apologies.

What I cited is from the 12th Amendment, which altered the original system to give us what we have today.

The 23rd Amendment gave DC residents the opportunity to vote for president, and I assume that they can also run.

Most of the DC residents who are likely to run probably are registered elsewhere, though.

I don't know whether the residents of territories and commonwealths can run for president or vice president.

No party would nominate them, because they wouldn't bring any electoral votes with them.

Thanks for the 12th Amendment reminder.

I actually thought there was a modern day Amendment that required Electors to vote for president and vice president as a unit, which is the way we vote as individual citizens.

Re: “Stateless” candidates - “No party would nominate them, because they wouldn't bring any electoral votes with them.”

I guess New York state resident Donald Trump didn't get the memo? He might as well be stateless, because he's never going to win New York.

Concerning Puerto Rico, I thought they were natural born USA citizens.

Nope. Apparently, the issue has never been litigated, but a number of Supreme Court Justices, all of them Left or Center-Left, have indicated they would vote in favor of “natural born” status.
