First thing that came to mind when red state Senator Steve Daines had a wedding plan just come up. Am I paranoid? The answer would be term limits as primaries are on US and don't really work.
The wedding didn’t just come up. The vote was supposed to happen long before this.
AND HE KNEW IT AND MCCONNELL KNEW IT.
THIS IS A SET UP.
Alex Jones, is that you?
People are easily fooled. Letting the voters pick Senate candidates plays into it. Would the higher-ups at the party level be any different?
Senators are supposed to serve ONE term only.
If I am in error, please cite the relevant language.
Steve Daines is up again in 2020. EVERYONE worked hard for him to get that seat. We don’t need last minute drama. Phu-king with our heads again. Now it’s Collins making an announcement at 3pm EST-when Rush is over. Talk about drama. Drumroll please. They’re all phonies-show business for the ugly.
Good, she needs to stop hiding and announce her YES vote.
She’s not hiding. She’s playing the game. Wordsmiths. That’s all.
I believe its implied in and in Article I, Section 3.
Amendment 17 is where the issue gets muddied since Senators are elected instead of appointed.
TERM LIMITS, NOW AND FOREVER!
Two five year senate terms, two three year house terms. No pensions other than SS and those chosen by and paid into by themselves.
The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof (Legislature later changed to People by Amendment 17) for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.
This language was laboriously crafted during that Miracle in Philadelphia - these words were not carelessly crafted.
I fail to see the implication, Penumbra or Emanation you reference.
The Framers’ stipulated the powers of the senate with the senate’s electors, the states, in mind. We are still reeling from the awful 17A; it might be our undoing.
Its an Amendment. Very tough to repeal an Amendment. Not impossible but this issue realistically has a loooong way to go. It would be required that all public schools once again teach the origins of our governments formation and the reasoning behind States rights. Good luck. The socialists decide curriculums.
Agreed!
The Seventeenth Amendment allowed the dominance of Party over State, however, the Sixteenth Amendment is the blood-letting that will weaken the People and feed the State until both host and parasite perish.
