I don’t blame him for leaving, especially since he was with his wife, but by doing so - Cruz let them win.

If he had just sat there, let them drone on, the restaurant would have had to deal with it. They would have had to call the cops, and they would have had to sacrifice their other patrons. “Society” would have had to deal with this disruption, and the effect of this crazy behavior would have been magnified.

By leaving, Cruz took that responsibility upon himself. Wrong choice.

"...sacrifice their other patrons..."

Excellent point and great insightful post.
Essentially, if a restaurant becomes known for loud protests with airhorns, whistles, and drums...most patrons would be inclined to go elsewhere.

Isn’t this ironic? Remember in the run up to the convention and the Chicago mob?His comments regarding Trump? Maybe Cruz was creating the “environment” for these fascists.

Right you are. He should have stood up and called 911 himself ... and said he needed a few good Marines.
It is time to start fighting back. Now!

You can also look at it a different way - by leaving, he let the other patrons enjoy their meal in peace and quiet (once the a’holes left). Had he stayed, I can pretty much guarantee that he’d have been painted as being so selfish that he ruined everyone else’s meal by leaving.

I sure that he and the Mrs. ate elsewhere, and now Cruz looks like a bit of a martyr for Texas voters. This was one of Beto’s worst nightmares - with friends like these nuts, he doesn’t need enemies.

He could be holding up a #Walkaway placard to their camera while waiting.

Easy for you to say. Try sitting there with insane, frothing at the mouth liberals shrieking at you inches from your ear. They are all unhinged. Is there an assassin among them? It feels like they are inches away from assassination. They might even assassinate a Senator’s spouse rather than the Senator just to ruin his or her life.

It would take stupendous courage to sit through those real threats.

What they were trying to do is get a shot of Cruz taking a verbal or physical swing at the in your face protesters. Political figures have to leave before the situation escalates.
