I’m not here to minimize the damage, suffering, and loss but were 40% behind in hurricanes for the past 50 years. If people had the brains they were born with they wouldn’t build their coastal homes 1 ft above sea level when periodic hurricanes routinely bring in 6ft plus surges. You’ve been told to get out of Dodge for a week and your cutting holes in your roof a week later. Insurance rackets, hype, human stupidity account for most of the damage.
