Kyl is 76. He can quit in January AFTER Ducy is re-elected. Then he appoints someone else and there will be nothing we can do no matter who he appoints. He's taking the easy way out. The only thing he's concerned about is November. Cowardly. In 2022 he can go for McCains seat. If the seat is lost in 2020 it will be his fault. What newcomer wants to run in 2020 only to run again 2 years later? The fix is in.
That someone else is very likely a female McCain—else he would have just named his real candidate to start.
Pols generally are disgusting. Takes a special type to be good at, okay with, and even natural at the game.
When Kyl retired he had a 25 year lifetime American Conservative Union rating of 97%. While the ACU is a bit suspect at times if all are judged by same standard which they are Kyl is a shinning light we should be glad is back.
This guy from Arizona is glad it isn’t any worse. Beats the tar out of Cindy McCain!
I believe she sold her house a couple of years ago.
Typical professional politician. That’s why we need term limits and no pensions for politicians.
Hayworth can run again. And should.
What gripes me about this is there was no thought given about the appointment. None at all.
Ducey couldnt figure that if he appointed someone to that seat who would have run as basically a second term and hold the seat.
Ducey set himself up real good to run for that seat the next go around. And he might lose.
“Theres more. Ducy loses in November and Kyl croaks in January. Then what?”
A Republican would have to be appointed regardless of who gets elected in November. Ducey won’t lose in November.
I haven’t noticed the detractors naming their preferred appointee.
Who did they want?
Fortunately, it’s a case of the dogs barking as the caravan moves on.
Exactly.
We get people retiring here from all over the country.
You meet very few locals who have lived here all of their lives.
Throwing your baby rattle and having a fit is a good way to give the State to the RATS.
It is going to take time to undo the damage McCain did to the State.

Don’t know that such is true - normally a governor can appoint whoever he/she wants. If Ducey was to lose, Kyl could quickly resign and Ducey appoint himself as Senator before the new governor takes office.
Also could be his long term plan - Kyl could serve a few months to a year then resign setting Ducey up to appoint himself as he is term limited and this would be his last term as governor - then what?
NumbersUSA gave Kyl an overal B rating with a grade of 74%.
McCain received a D rating with a grade of 27%.
Their minds are made up dont confuse them with facts.
That’s great news.
If Kyl stays to 2020, I hope he supports Trump on immigration including The Wall, merit-based immigration, stop chain & baby citizenship, etc.
Trump needs all the support he can get to truly implement MAGA.

I believe by AZ law the governor has to appoint someone of the same party as the person who died.
Kyl supported the McCain/Kennedy amnesty attempts in 2006 and 2007. He is not on the side of the citizens and the rule of law.
AZ will still have TWO amnesty Senators at the end of the day.
I feel like it is coming. From the ground up people who work and volunteer for the GOP who did not believe there is an establishment now see it. Its happening, Georgia, Florida and everywhere else. People running and getting support from the ground are anti establishment.
That’s what Fred Barnes stated this morning on WMAL.
Kyle is a pro-Amnesty traitor...so hopefully he’ll change his Meeheecan loyalty and support Trump & America.

Arizona state law stipulates that the governor must choose a replacement from the same political party when the person was elected. Even if Kyl retires in January 2019, the new governor must chose a Republican.
If Ducey loses in November he won’t appoint himself as Senator. His political career would be over if he does not win.
Thank you for pointing out the AZ requirement that the appointment actually be from the same party. Appears AZ is one of 6 states with that requirement, 30 other states that allow Governor to appoint aren’t so restricted.
