Is anybody here an "expert" on the Vatican Library?
Freepmail me, please.

Overdue fines are in Ave Maria.
This is what I know. In order to access it you must have a letter from your bishop. It helps if you know Latin, because most of the documents are in Latin. And, it is good to know Italian just to make it easier for the librarians. And, don’t do what I did and follow the sign that leads to the library pretending that you are just looking around because the Swiss Guard will stop you and he appears seemingly out of no where.
I did attend the library at St Peter’s some time ago with an old friend of mine, a ladies’ man by nature (he was in high school!) who had nevertheless lived his life as a priest, and a miserable one at that.
We went because we both spoke Italian and a little Latin and he wanted to know if there was an answer in the library as to what had caused him such grief: a life without the touch of a woman.
I will never forget, as he reviewed in detail the conversations between our LORD and the Prophets, etc., the moment he broke down in tears and yelled:
“There’s an R!”
“An R!”
It says CELEBRATE, not Celibate!
How about the museum. Anyone an expert?
I’m not an expert, but I hear it is a nice place to come down if you’re high.

Winner...
Was there only last Tuesday.
A working knowledge of Italian is essential. It is not an "open-stacks" library, though many tomes are on display. You thus can't actually "browse," but must instead fill out a slip identifying exactly which book you want.
Don't go there to "soak up the atmosphere" or expect to "happen upon" an interesting work. It is for serious study, only.
Regards,
Tough to get into! The Richard the Third Society is still asking to see his dispensation papers to marry Anne Neville - 500 years ago. What a backlog.
You are older and wiser now. But at the time, I suppose it didn’t occur to you or your friend to consider switching to an eastern rite Catholic or Orthodox church?
Yep. And, you have to let them know in advance about your subject matter.
Oh, I was just kidding, Sphinx. It was a joke.
I am a Jew but it is true, were I to accept Jesus I would be a Catholic.
I am however very upset about this sex abuse business. Very, very sad and wrong.
Also - it gives the good priests a bad name, and turns good men away from the priesthood.
I was agreeing with you in a tongue in cheek kind of way. The Catholic Church needs to purge the homosexuals from the priesthood. I don’t think they can do that without accepting married clergy. It wouldn’t be the end of the world. The Eastern Rite Catholic Churches and Orthodox Churches manage, without going full protestant. The RCC could still maintain celibacy in various orders.
I believe all the Bibles are currently checked out so the Pope is forced to use the communist manifesto.
I am a Jew but it is true, were I to accept Jesus I would be a Catholic.
And I am also distraught that the priesthood has been abused and that the abuse itself has been protected. Very sad indeed.
