Procrustes as a terrible Greek who cut off his opponent’s/enemy’s legs in order to get them to fit the existing size of his bed.(the Procrustean bed)
He didn’t wanna get a bigger bed, apparently, because then he wouldn’t be part of Greek Mythology, but instead maybe have been one of Aesop’s Fables. Anyway , the term has come to apply to anyone who alters something on purpose in order “to make it fit” any preconceived notion (of his). In this guy’s case , though, he’s undermined by his own statistics, but he doesn’t seem to notice that.
Well, thank you for the edification. Although this reminds me of a short story H. P. Lovecraft wrote. It was about a mortician who would cut the deceased legs off at the knee in order to make them fit in the coffin.
(btw...Lovecraft loved outsized words also)
