Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) suggested last month that President Donald Trump revoke the security clearance of former CIA Director John Brennan over his potential to profit from his privilege despite no longer holding an official government position.
Trump agreed, and revoked Brennans clearance on Wednesday, more than a month after Pauls suggestion.
And while officially Trump acted because Brennan used his status to make a series of unfounded and outrageous allegations and wild outbursts about the Trump administration, Paul explained on Fox News Thursday that Brennans clearance should have been revoked for cause if that wasnt the reason, at least privately.
What did Paul say? Speaking with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Paul reiterated the fact that he has urged government officials for months to review the security clearance statues of multiple former government officials.
However, Brennan was a special case, Paul said, explaining the left is ignoring that Brennan allegedly violated security protocols by leaking information, which should have been the basis for him losing his security clearance.
I think he should have had his clearance revoked for cause. He leaked information that came out in the media that we had a double agent in Yemen, Paul said.
Remember when we were going after the underwear bomber? There still is a bomb maker in Yemen. He leaked that to the media, Paul explained. The double agent was still there, and he put that agents life at risk.
John Brennan should have been fired for that alone, Paul continued.
What did Brennan do? Reuters explains:
At about 5:45 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 7, 2017, just before the evening newscasts, John Brennan, President Barack Obamas top White House adviser on counter-terrorism, held a small, private teleconference to brief former counter-terrorism advisers who have become frequent commentators on TV news shows.
According to five people familiar with the call, Brennan stressed that the plot was never a threat to the U.S. public or air safety because Washington had inside control over it.
Brennans comment appears unintentionally to have helped lead to disclosure of the secret at the heart of a joint U.S.-British-Saudi undercover counter-terrorism operation.
A few minutes after Brennans teleconference, on ABCs World News Tonight, Richard Clarke, former chief of counter-terrorism in the Clinton White House and a participant on the Brennan call, said the underwear bomb plot never came close because they had insider information, insider control.
A few hours later, Clarke, who is a regular consultant to the network, concluded on ABCs Nightline that there was a Western spy or double-agent in on the plot: The U.S. government is saying it never came close because they had insider information, insider control, which implies that they had somebody on the inside who wasnt going to let it happen.
Because of the leaked information, U.S. officials had to prematurely shut down the operation, despite needing it to continue.
Paul has sounded the alarm on this specific issue before.
Whats next? According to a report from the Washington Post, Trump is considering revoking the security clearances of nearly a dozen additional former government officials.
Yeah, he exposed a terrorist double agent in Yemen. Big deal. He’s also the mastermind of an attempted coup d’etat against the President of the United States.
Obama and Brennan’s CIA spying on the Senate intelligence Committee in 2014 in itself is sufficient.
What else should we expect from a Communist?
Did he ever renounce it?
I dont know whether to laugh or cry. Congress critters are notorious for profiting from their privileges both in _and_ out of office!
Because of leaders like Brennan and Obama.
“Brennan...held a small, private teleconference to brief former counter-terrorism advisers who have become frequent commentators on TV news shows.”
Just think about that.
Former CIA director is giving orders on how “experts” are supposed to proceed on mews shows.
Completely coordinated propaganda.
The guy set his balls on fire on a commercial airliner
To me...That was legitimate threat.
Paul’s a kook! Paul’s off his meds like his old man!
Mastermind? Ha! Tier 2 point man and I would agree.
Who would you say? Maybe it’s just a hive mind, but he seems to be the “patient zero” in the coup. The first events start with him.
They would be the ones doing the detailed, evil conniving and their authority to be heard comes via the blood-oath "folk" they are.

>According to five people familiar with the call, Brennan stressed that the plot was never a threat to the U.S. public or air safety because Washington had inside control over it.
Wasn’t the underwear bomber the proximate cause for installing the Rapeyscan machines and being subject to routine sexual assault by TSA agents?
And Brennan admits it was an inside job?
Brennan could go to jail for his “loose lips” act of stupidity since he told the classified operational information to those who should never have been told it (even if they once had security clearances).
This is a provable, prosecutable crime by Brennan. The Deep State coup may never get to court.
I honestly can’t believe the Dems are trying to make a big deal about this. Why should anyone no longer in government be entitled to security clearance?
We don't teach history anymore in the halls of academia, so, we do not learn those lessons. The consequences of that are coming down in our day. Thank you for the heads up! Any Millennial reading here who thinks history doesn't matter should take note.
Agree. When these clowns for spooks sign a non disclosure form they know not to run their damn mouth.
From what the news reported we were lucky the device did not go off. This mouth Brennan and every damn “LEAKER” knows they signed a non disclosure form that clearly states loss of clearance etc.
Rand Paul does serve a purpose. He has his faults but he’s good on lots of issues.
