In an utterly classless move that fans of the Apprentice learned to expect from the likes of Omarosa Manigault-Newman, the former White House aide appeared on NBCs Meet the Press with Chuck Todd. While peddling her new book, Unhinged, she released a secret recording of White House Chief of Staff John Kelly firing her, citing integrity issues.
The release of this recording came just two days after Manigault Newman was caught in a blatant lie about whether she heard President Trump the N-word.
Omarosa was abruptly fired in December from her position as director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison. The Wall Street Journal reported that upon her firing, Manigault Newman had to be physically dragged and escorted off the campus.
Many immediately noted the shocking breach of every known security protocol revealed by Manigault Newman of her own actions when she revealed she recorded Kelly in the situation room. The situation room is known as a SCIF or a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility. This is a room in which all personnel is supposed to be required to surrender any and all recording, photographic and any other electronic media devices.

It is when its in a SCIF. I dont care WHO you are. Had I done this, charges would have already been filed. Thats a FACT. I will lose A LOT of respect for the president if this Whitehouse doesnt pursue charges. It will also make them hypocrites. You cant go after one group for not obeying the laws (emails and classified leaks) and allow someone else to record using their personal phone in a SCIF. Everyone who has ever dealt with classified information knows that that is illegal. Even lower level secured areas are off limits to cell phones, like command posts and AOCs. SCIFs? She belongs in jail and Trump better make sure she sees it.
I would say it seems like someone gave her a shovel and she started digging herself in deeper.... but I think someone gave her a backhoe.
Honor system or not, if it’s the LAW then she broke it. And if it is, and she did, the only question that matters is “Do Laws Matter?”
I watched The Apprentice when she was on. She was an absolute horror. Thoroughly unlikeable and unliked by all the other candidates. She was lazy, uncooperative, combative, temperamental and impossible to get along.
Donald must have been playing 1-D checkers when he hired her.
I was waiting for confirmation on the status of the Situation Room - if it’s really a SCIF, she’s toast. Recording information under those circumstances falls under the Espionage Act. Which you are told repeatedly when you’re briefed into the program.
You are right, of course. But you know who the laws apply to.
Just put her in the public stocks and leave a truckload of rotten tomatoes nearby. What she needs is her witchy attitude adjusted.
I never really watched the show, but I can def see “uncooperative, combative, temperamental and impossible to get along” in her today. smh
If Trump had recorded someone in a SCIF thy would be talking about these regulations non-stop. Since it is his enemies breaking the law, this is glossed over.
