You Tube ^ | 1978 | Pink Floyd

Since the national exercise in child abuse known as public schools reopens next week, I've been thinking of this song.

Just another Brick in the Wall

Kids have already gone back to the Sculags here.

It’s madness.

We never went back before September.

One of my favorite songs.

My boys go back to school Monday. On a modified year round schedule, which I sure wish I had.

Have a good buddy who ran for school board. He made this the official song of his campaign in his TV ads.

Saw that show live at the Oakland Coliseum back in the day.
Late 70’s...early 80’s.
It was *electric*.
David Gilmour......

Saw ‘Pink Floyd’ (aka Roger Waters) at Desert Trip in 2016. They closed the show Sunday night. We walked out of the act after 15 minutes of too much Trump blasting and other political crap.

STFUP and sing

Ain’t that the truth today!

It’s really difficult to listen to PF today and enjoy it w/o thinking about Roger Waters’ politics lately. When I do, I just have to “remember the old days”.

Roger Waters isn’t just an anti-Semite, he’s also a self-pitying bore. “The Wall” is all him, and it shows.

Funny thing is that I saw David Gilmour that same year at the Hollywood Bowl and he didn’t speak to the crowd very much at all. Some reminiscing about his first time at the Bowl with PF and some talk about his new music. Other than that, it was pure music for 3 hours.

Just for fun, here’s an interview of Claire Tory, who did the great vocal work on “The Great Gig in the Sky.” I remember exactly where I was the first time I heard her talent put Pink Floyd as one of the greatest groups ever.

I’d actually seen that interview. Thanks. Nobody did Great Gig as well as Clare. Here’s a video (above) in a similar vain (on working with the group).

I’ve often thought that song would be very appropriate if it was played at my funeral. Growing up in Detroit, everyone called me Gig.

>Saw that show live at the Oakland Coliseum back in the day.

Saw them 5 different times. 1971 at CWRU Adelbert Gymnasium. Sat on the floor with a six channel p.a. buzzing around me. Incredible sound quality, especially in a gym. Twice in a few days about a year before DSOTM came out in 40 or 50 year old movie palaces - Great audio, no backing instrumentals or vocals other than PF. Two stadium concerts in the Animals and Wish You Were Here days. Sonics were pure audio mush.

Started listening with Piper when I was 15. Huge fan along with SOS, Ummagumma, AHM - Pure Epicness!, Meddle. DSOTM got played SO MUCH I got sick of hearing it. Liked WYWH, MEH to Animals and The Wall. Later stuff is OK but to me the great old days were pre DSOTM.

Nowadays, NO desire to see anything with waters. For the most part, AssHats need not apply to be a part of my playlists.

Why does the summer vacation keep getting shorter for the kids? August 15 now? That’s stupid.
