This is pretty much why we practically wiped out bears in the first place. So we wouldn't have to be on guard every time we stepped out our front door. So we wouldn't have to be worried about being killed by an animal 40 feet from our front door.

It’s no different in South Side of Chicago and they blame Guns. /s

However, If it worked for keeping the Bears in check perhaps...

Yes, it is why they were almost extinct! Those who got here first had common sense, which seems to be none too common these days.
