Pits are known for intelligence though. Most of the molossoid breeds are bright (pugs being the exception.
I have some grandchildren that would disagree with a Mal not being suitable as a pet. Mine loves kids, and mine is as tough a protection dog as you’ll find, she’ll consistently draw blood through a police/military sleeve, has three littermates in the military, two are police dogs, one is in a prison in Ky or Tn, I forget which. She also when playing can hit 40 mph and clear my wife’s head at a run (5’3) and at 78 pounds you can see her ribs. She is 7 years old, and dead safe with kids over 3.
A good protection dog is social with people until instructed otherwise. The really good bred ones are good with people, dogs that are afraid/not confident are the ones to watch as they bite from fear. The dogs that are slinking away while barking are the ones to watch, they are fear biters, the confident, social dogs bite when they are supposed to, as a rule.
A Mal will fly and take you down at speed however, been there and done that!
I grew up with border collies from birth on a cattle ranch. Border collies and Malinois/Dutch Shepherds/German shepherds are the smartest, most trainable dogs around, maybe throw decent field bred labs in the mix as well.
I once personally witnessed an Afgan dog spring upwards and side-ways over a chain-link fence.
Hitler was a cute baby once. That is a picture of a beautiful puppy. That will turn into an asshole dog. Wish it wasn’t true, but they are the overwhelming killers of humans.
Funny. I was just about to say that to you. It's rare to see someone so completely and utterly clueless about any given subject. I'd give you a -10 on a 1 to 10 scale.
Exactly. Just like I wouldn’t like to be suddenly shrunk down to mouse size in front of a Jack Russell no matter how well the dog was trained. But If I had to be, I would prefer a trained dog over untrained.
I have read some interviews with pit bull owners that say they have to be careful with strangers and especially unknown children around their trained dogs. So some realize training might not overcome any protective or combative instinct the dog has towards someone not of the pack unit. What I haven’t seen is if a trained pit bull will completely flip out on someone it has been socialized with in the pack unit or not.

Did your parents have any kids that had more than one miserable brain cell? This statement is about as bottom of the barrel as it gets. Dumb, dumber, and dumbest.
“Youd have better luck living with a lion than a pit bull.”
Huh?

Pay these anti-dog idiots no mind. They are the lowest class of people you will find here on FR. My Saffordshire (tall Pit) is super smart and loving. I trust her with my life.
These anti-dog idiots believe all Pits are vicious maulers when nothing could be further from truth.
They don’t call them America’s Dog for nothing. They are amazing protecting and smart. Just like certain other breeds; they need to be trained to understand their boundaries. Many breeds are this way. In fact I could say that about any dog. Basic discipline.
In a perfect world these idjits would be banned but we don’t live there so I guess we have to tolerate their posts but that doesn’t mean we can’t put them in their place as needed.
Then you are either clueless about the breed and believe what these hate/fear mongers say or you just aren't very bright.
Pit Bulls have a long and great history. Just because some idiots abuse them to make them mean doesn't mean they should be exterminated. Get a clue, buy a vowel, something.
Terrible site. I hope no Freeper is dumb enough to go there and be part of the hate club there. You have to be an exceptionally damaged person to attack defenseless dogs this way. Pathetic really.
You lose. You invoked Godwin’s Law that states the first person to bring Hitler (or the Nazi’s) into a conversation loses the debate.
You were a loser before that though for believing all Pit Bulls are bad dogs when in fact only a tiny percentage are that were made that way or provoked. Get a clue, buy a vowel, but wise up.
What are we gonna do tomorrow Brain?
Try to rid the world of Pit Bulls Pinki!
It’s not like Malinois aren’t good dogs, it’s that they aren’t suitable for the average person. Too high energy with a strong prey drive. You know what you have, you’re not picking a Malinois because you think it looks cute.
Yes, and just 2 months ago a 6yo killed by the family PBT in Altoona in the west of the state.
They are indeed high prey drive and just too intense. Border Collies are also intense, just not the same way exactly.
This is why I think, minus health issues, forces are going to swing back toward German Shepherd again. Not as high intensity which means can be a bit more manageable.
“because you think it looks cute.”
People do it all the time. Heelers are not suitable for the average person. I’ll take it further and state that any dog over 20 lbs. is not suitable for the average person. We have to train our dogs or, as Ransom stated, the dog and the master will be miserable.
I am going to pay them mind. I am not going to let them kick dogs that are behaved and trained.
That is the issue at hand. Training and boundaries. Dogs actually want boundaries and a leader.
The op is a dimwit pearl clutcher.
