If you’re mainly using a computer for browsing and perhaps checking email, consider getting a used machine.

I bought a used W98 machine on ebay last year to run some of my old W98 games that won't run on anything later than 98. I replaced the video card and did a clean install of Windows from my W98 disc. Works okay but hangs on boot down sometimes.

I'm at the library again. This is the longest I've been without home Internet access in the 21 years since I first logged on. I am determined to get my computer back this week whether it is fixed or not. I've found a newer place where maybe they could do a better job. I'll have to pay the first guy for the work he's done on it, of course. I just hope it doesn't wind up "fixed" but not fixed and then I have two complete bills to pay when I can barely afford one.

BTW, I thank whoever out there put money in my PayPal account, but they won't let me log on because I've only used it once before, and since I don't text or know how to upload identification, I have to depend on them calling me at home. But right now, to be online I have to be away from home, and I can't take the call. I don't even know how much has been deposited. I may never get back in. I hope it doesn't wind up just sitting in there doing nothing, forcing whoever did this to have sacrificed in vain.

What I have gone through the past three weeks is absolutely ridiculous. Of course, I'm a technological illiterate and a computer jinx, so I suppose it was bound to happen sooner or later.
