Like their own little world ... better without the propaganda blasting out. Would be almost surreal if you hadn’t lived there for years.
The villagers make chocolate covered soybeans which are sold in a gift shop at the DMZ. I bought some, along with North Korean currency and a few other souvenirs when I visited.
When we entered the JSA, we saw a chart of annual North Korean attacks or attempts on the south, hundreds per year. I wonder what the chart looks like now, almost two years later.
